when the last drops of oil are gone, what will we be left with?

where you getting your electricity from to power this car you speak about no more electricity means life has we no it is over we have to go back to when man was hunter
Hmm lets see where could we get the electricity? is fossil fuel required to produce electricity? even a moron like yourself should now the answer.. NO ITS NOT

-Wind energy
-Solar energy
-Tidal energy
-Geothermal energy

think i forgot some but doesnt really mather.. it comes down to this.. Renewable energy that doesnt pollute anything is every were, why is biofuell promoted, instead of electric cars?
Cause money is involved.. Simply to say money holds back mankind against true scientific progress.. Simple as that.

We still have one of the biggest coal reserves in the world with which to produce electricity.
Who the f*** says you need fricking coals to produce energy.. get informed on renewable energy sources before you just type a crapload on a forum and make yourself appear as a dummy...

im chilled wiv a big spliff just laughing at how dumb you are oil generates every thing we do how we get are food ,how we get about from place to place no oil means nothing' just you wiv no job, no food, no money, no electricity, no gas, no car, no nice clothes the shock will be BIG for most if not everyone
that would be the scenario if no action on anything renewable is taken.. when the oil stops pomping up its to late to adjust..
But seriously you need to get your facts right.. in the current system your way of looking is correct.. does this mean we need to keep this system? Or perhaps that we will eventually have to change it anyway??

pick one..

You sir are the "Dummy" I own stock in a few Solar companies, but the technology still has a long way to go.

we still have algea , "mana" if youll go there . food , power ,ect its unstopable . and such a funfamental building block of life . when all runs dry there wont be chaos ect ... the gas /oil/coal companies will milk every penny out of them all . then sell conversions for obsolite equiptment . society will embrace the solar/electric hydrogen solutions that have been around for decades , but only once all is gone . humans are depletionist . if it ain't broke dun fix it . well drive the easy things into the ground before we switch to the logical harder solutions .maybe even amassing enough wealth to controlled the new greener technology .

I thought if you had enough of them, solar panels could power an entire household? If you had the cash to buy um.

Right! It's all about the $$. Fossil fuels are still cheaper than any of those renewable or "green" energy sources. Until that changes we are stuck with 'em.

Any idea as to how much those things cost? Around here some people have solar water heating. If it was really about saving the planet and shit, shouldn't this stuff be a little more accessible to normal people?

we could convert to diesel and run on alcohol. right now audi has a new diesel car that gets 40 mpg. thats no hybrid either, just pure diesel power.

We could easily use other technologies for means of transportations.. the electrical engine that beats a V8 has long been invented..
Problem is money is involved..
The very first automobile race was between an electric car and a gas car, the electric car won easily, but the developers decided to go with the gas engine.

That's my point. As things become really dire the price of fossil fuels should rise and as technology improves and becomes cheaper, green technology will become more accessible to us po' folk.;-)

To answer your question, I have no idea and I'm sure the price per kilowatt varies but I'm sure a quick internet search should turn up some fairly quick results. I think Israel has made a law which requires all new homes to have solar water heaters. They certainly live in a perfect region of the world for that type of thing. :joint:

40mpg? the vw polo bluemotion diesel does 80mpg no hybrid either. alright not beiggest or fastest car in the world but then again thats not this is about

you need to learn facts an i am not denying solar technology has a long way to go.. thats an empty statement.. ALL technology has a long way to go and technology is NEVER finished..

Combine all the green power and youll have enough energy for the planet forever..

Geothermal energy alone could (with the energy it contains) supply the planet for over 4000 years.. and this energy is renewed constantly..
So do some research on this topic before stating dumb things..

As i said only thing stopping us from using it is the system we are in...

Oil is a replenishable source for all i care :) By the time we run out of nuclear matieral, we'll probably have come across some newly formed oil reserves.

I don't see a lack of oil causing us to sit at home and garden, as has been said, there are plenty of other methods of transport that do not require oil. Fuck, horses! And as has also been said, i think, it's hardly like we're some brain dead retarded species that will not figure something out when the issue starts to arise (well we are stupid, but not thatttt stupid)

You can, it costs around $25,000-$50,000 to get your house hooked up. You are still connected to the electric grid so you can run your stuff when its dark, but during the day you feed power into the grid. The power company gives you a meter that reads what you use as well as what you produce. If you produce more than you use they cut you a check instead of sending you a bill. It's pretty cool stuff, but it takes like 15 or 20 years to recoup your investment in the solar panels. Maybe they will get cheaper in the future.

All this is well and good and everything, but more importantly...
HOW WILL WE POWER OUR LAMPS FOR OUR GARDENS?!?!?

...think of the children

The biggest japanese construction company is already planning to build a solar panel belt around the moon...its all in the future, but if they manage to do it, all the worlds energy needs will be solved...they are planning to send the energy generated form the panels back to earth with lasers and microwaves, but again, it all takes time and lets just hope the future will save us...:peace:
