@ HydroGp Sorry to hear about your knees. I have one without a Meniscus, and some days just aren't that good.

That's one of the reasons I self medicate.....

Hey all, thought I'd give an update on my grow. My girls are doing really well, they have definitely hit the reservoir of my Solo cup hempys. Every day I check them they look like they have grown another inch or so. They are currently around 6 to 8 inches. There are 8 but I have decided to narrow them down to 5 soon. I am going to have to transplant the chosen 5 into 2.5 gallon buckets this weekend. I'm a little hesitant because I may have to add my second 150w HPS, which I am hesitant to do because of heat issues. During flowering it is easier to manage because the lights aren't on as long. I'll have to decide soon what I want to do. Either way I'm thinking of cloning sometime next week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday.

I have to make a trip to the hydro store this weekend to pick up some Dyna-Gro Protek before I transfer/flower. I'll update Sunday or Monday and let everyone know where I am at.

It'll make a nice 15" cola - 4 month cure Christmas present for my brothers wife.
Man Watts, that's gonna stick right out the end of the stocking...I could just image a person getting up Christmas day and seeing one of those jutting out of a stocking over the hearth....yeah...right on! I would remember that forever....

QUICK UPDATE: After some re-calculations I realized I can fit 6 no problem, not just 5. I should still have room for my fan and lights. Since my quest is to get a new mom, I want to increase the odds of getting females. Since it is bag seed I have to go by the age old philosophy that you get 50/50 male to female ratio. This should hopefully leave me with at least 3 females. Another trick is that the more taller, aggressive plants are male (or Sativa). I have at least 1 that is taller than the rest, so that will be one I won't transplant. Even if it is indeed female by it's size it is probably a Sativa which I don't want with an indoor grow since they take longer than Indicas.

As far as transplanting I am definitely going to do it tomorrow afternoon. They are getting too big for the Solo hempy buckets. I also remembered I have some CFLs floating around, so I can use those instead of my other 150w HPS, so that will help with the heat issue.

To sum up it is a trip to the hydro store tomorrow morning for some Dyno-Grow Protek, then transplant in the afternoon. Probably Wednesday or Thursday I'll take clones, then start them to flower next weekend, right around the first.

PS - I have recently learned that a life long friend of mine who is in the military has taken an assignment in the Netherlands, about an hour and a half from Amsterdam. He has invited me out there so I think I am going to go, probably early next year. I plan on hitting up a couple of shops and buying some real good seed!! bongsmilie

These are just about 3 weeks from seed, first one is the mazar x white rhino, the other 3 are the BF critical kush, first feeding was last night...GF Flora series ... 600w MH is currently dimmed at 75%..

IMG_1827.jpg IMG_1828.jpg IMG_1831.jpg IMG_1832.jpg IMG_1833.jpg .....

Oh yeah and i placed the 2 gallon hempy buckets into these totes.. makes watering and dealing with runoff ideal, easy to rotate and helps me stay clean in the small tent.. i have a hand pump siphon to draw the extra water out, but i've been noticing the past week it works out leaving a 1/4 inch or so of water and keeps the humidity in an ideal range also, so it serves a good purpose for 10 bucks... :peace:

Hey FJG, kinda small for 3 weeks. How come you didn't start in Solo hempy buckets? The problem with starting in larger buckets is the roots take a long time to get to the reservoir when they really have explosive growth. Mine are at three weeks as well, and they are a good 8 inches or so.

Not trying to rag on you, it looks good just small for that amount of time and your light. You live and learn. Next time start in the Solo hempy buckets and then transplant to the larger containers before you flower.

Good luck!! bongsmilie

yeah live and learn... i started them in rockwool 3x3's so its taking a longer time to reach the rez, i looked around on forums about starting in rockwool for hempys , people seem to have done it and still do, but starting in hempy solos are deft next time... they are about 19 days from beans sprouting

FJG - they are pretty easy is to start in peat pellets until they sprout, once they do put them in your Solo cup hempy's. When they get around 6 inches or so (in about 3 weeks) transplant them to your bigger buckets. I just transplanted today, I'll update tomorrow and let everyone know how it went and how they are doing.

Same with your clones as well, start those in Solo cup hempys, they'll do much better than larger buckets.

yeah, any seeds i start after this i will do that....

as for these i did not want to touch or move them into smaller pots or disturb anything, i figure let the slow growth continue, then when the roots reach the rez hopefully it will catch up...its only 4 so i could start all over but i figure let these run their course first

You definitely don't want to transplant into smaller containers. They'll do fine, it will just take a little longer. You may have to water more often, I would say at least 2x a day until they are at least 6 inches or so. Maybe use regular PH-right water in the morning and your nutes in the afternoon. With my Solo cup hempy's I was watering every day.

When you take your clones put those into a DWC until they root, then put them into Solo cup hempy's for transplant later.

This is where coco coir in hempy's really shines....I can transplant any size plant into it or even sprout seeds right in the full size bucket without care of watering every day or if the roots hit the rez. The wicking action of coco brings water upwards easily. I generally just fill the rez half full and feel the bucket weight daily...somewhere in 4, 5 or 7 days it will need water again. When the explosion of growth occurs I fill the rez for the first time and look for run-off. But even though I've sprouted in buckets before, I've learned to harden off young-ones in solo cups so I can pick the best ones to put in buckets. Here's an example of sprouts just 10 days old under a 23w CFL. I'll be putting them in buckets in the next few days, and upping the lights to a T5 fixture for the rest of veg.

yeah jela i really should of listened to you the first time we talked and went the coco coir route, im really kickin myself in the ass now, i can see how slow they are growing, i even knew i shouldnt of started them in the rockwool, but i have like 3, 10 packs of different sizes, and i guess i feel stupid throwing em away but its time to move away from the rockwool, its never been ideal now that i look back on it... i still have good beans, maybe i should restart another 4 and scrap these? Im just frustrated, shoulda coulda woulda, and didn't... ill learn from it

I personally wouldn't scrap them. Yeah they're gonna take a little longer to really explode but there's nothing wrong with them. Just stick with em and the reward at the end will make it worth the wait.

LOL - definitely do not give up on them!! It is just going to take a little longer, that is all. Just water 2x a day like I mentioned, and you should be good. We all live and learn from our mistakes, believe me!!! Once these are good and established take your clones and you'll be good to go from then on.
