lanza refused to even undergo a background check. if his mom had kept her guns in a safe, a classroom full of kindergarteners wouldn't have been slaughtered.
loughner was only stopped when he went to change magazines, unlucky for the little girl he shot and killed that he had 23 extra bullets to fire before he needed to do that.

So basically what you have just admitted was that background checks didn't stop Lanza and magazine restrictions didn't affect Loughner.
You're really good at this.
Putting a ban on magazines of more than 10 rounds won't affect the 3 billion high capacity magazines already out there. Universal background checks ? already got those. The only time you don't get a background check is when one private person sells to another and the private person is not a licensed firearms dealer.

The OP is a straw-man argument I'm afraid. And I'm not sure what your argument is. Are you supporting "gun grabbers" or are you trying to argue that background checks for purchasing firearms is a bad idea?
I love my guns. But I also think background checks should be mandatory. I also think that it should be left to the state to decide whether assault weapons should be allowed. Personally I think an "assault rifle" in Arizona or New Mexico is not a terrible thing, but owning one in New England (except Maine) is a bad idea, simply due to population density.

There were five times more murders committed by knives than rifles in the US in 2010.
Note, these figures do not break down how many of the 358 were actually assault rifles.
In comparison, over 270 American die each day from prescription drug overdose.
If the democrats are so worried about protecting and saving lives, the would give up this political power play and concentrate their efforts on an issue that actually warrants it.
