I'm a little late replying and I agree 100% with what you say here. However, substitute today's Democratic party for Republican party in the first line of your statement and you are still 100% correct. Other than lip service to social issues (gay rights, women's issues, etc. ) the 2 parties are identical, bought and paid for. It's what you DO, not what you SAY that counts. Citizens United (Money = speech) will turn out to be the worst SC decision in history if it's not already.
When I was born, Truman was president. I'm old enough to remember Eisenhower (R) quite well, who was far, far more "liberal" than Obama ever dreams about. Check out his MIC warning in his speech to the RNC during his 1956 re-election campaign. For that matter, Nixon (R) (started the EPA, visited China) and even the hallowed Reagan (R) (raised taxes on the wealthy) are to the left of Obama. Fact is, BOTH parties have moved so far to the right it's fucking ridiculous. But that's what their corporate overlords want. Congress, Obama, are very good at doing the work of their corporate masters. They do nothing for you and me. They all fit into J.P. Morgans definition of an honest politician. "Once a politician is bought and paid for, they remain loyal to those that bought them." or something to that effect.
I vote 3rd party, occasionally D or R in a local election, but 3rd party in the major stuff, rather than hold my nose and vote for the one that stinks less. Some say, I'm throwing away a vote, but at least I can look at myself in the mirror. I realize, we don't have a democracy in the US anymore, (if we ever truly did), but I'll still play the voting game as long as I'm able.
As far as the original topic of this post goes, whether or not the 47 republican senators committed treason or not, is moot. Nothing will ever come of this, as nothing ever does. It's just another distraction and/or piece of propaganda our corporate overlords have instructed their corporate controlled media to hype. "Divide and conquer", it's the oldest trick in the book.
Other than that, baseball's back on TV!! Yippee.
