If you use spinosad then you can spray even with buds. Spinosad is simply a form of bacteria I believe, so you can spray with it up until harvest and it's non-toxic to humans and animals.
I also make a spray out of habaneros and spray with that up until the last week of flower.
The spinosad is for preventative measures. Any bug that comes into contact with the spinosad bacteria is literally eaten alive.
The habanero spray is for straight extinction. Watch those spider mites and caterpillars try and survive eating habanero covered leaves. They'll straight stop eating, then die.
