Any idea how far off they are from making that commonly available?

I suspect that my wife and I already were exposed and came through it with minor symptoms and it would take a load off my mind if I could confirm that is true or false.
I read 1 month.
Good idea wearing a mask. When I am outside my house I try to think of everything I touch and at work I think of everything everyone has touched and I either wipe it down immediately before or after and use my eyes constantly evaluating my safety from the invisible monster. It’s really annoying as hell but I don’t know where hands have been. When someone walks into my dept through the door and then they leave , I immediately wipe the handles with disinfectant wipes. It’s crazy!

It's not caution but the need to be correct and precise in what is known that makes it difficult. Being wrong is easy. Right now, the determination is "no proven benefit". To you that means, "so there is a chance". Do go on about how great and promising it is and how we "need to be optimists". Carry on.
I was just offering an opinion on the possible implications of a small pilot study, no proven benefit does not mean no benefit either, the jury is still out and I said as much. This is what their data showed, make of it what you will, but you could drive a truck through the holes in their study and many will. Proper trials are ongoing on a massive scale right now in Canada and the USA other places too so real answers will be soon forthcoming with larger numbers and better controls. Scientific truth is statistical in this case, the bigger the numbers the more "true" (probable) it is.

I saw a nurse using ink on her hands to demonstrate how often we touch our faces, her face was blue all over in no time. Mindfulness is the only thing I can think of that would help a person not to, but nobody is mindful all the time, lots of other stuff is going on too.
Stay safe and stay strong, keep up the artwork, it appears to help you.

The mask I wear is for -- just in case I have it and don't know it. We call them "cough covers" so that our kids don't go under the false impression that they can ignore other rules, like, "don't touch stuff in the store unless we are going to buy it" and the six feet rule. Our masks are to protect others. Besides, our home made ones are cool. Wear once, put in wash, wash hands when coming home, don't go out much. We went ten days before one of us went to the grocery store with a long list. Nobody else, just me.

You are a professional at this, I'm just an amateur. I caught myself licking the tip of my finger to help get my credit card out of my wallet while at the store the other day. "For crying out loud, idiot, how am I going to survive this", I asked myself.

I SCUBA dive. A hundred feet under the sea is about as hostile and foreign an environment as I'll ever see. I try to envision the grocery store as a SCUBA dive to increase my awareness of the danger. Doesn't always work but it helps.

I read your news about covid19 with mixed feelings, one alarm that you and your family might have it and like you, curiosity about whether you've had it and got off easy. It would be a relief to be through the ordeal safe and sound, also you might be of increased value to the community because you are immune and can help out more than most. I posted a CBC marketplace video in the Canadian Pandemic thread that looked at commercially available tests and their reliability.

I would imagine consumer labs or some online review might look at some of these tests, there will be commercial versions too and are now in Canada. I wouldn't trust them myself until health Canada or the FDA approves them.

Hope you and the family are well and stay that way.

Jesus fucking wept, stop using the pandemic to promote your attention seeking nonsense.

WE are all healthy, symptom free and my Mom, who is in an assisted living facility, thus far, is fine. Nobody in the facility has it so far as we know and the staff are doing their best for everybody there. We can't visit her, she doesn't communicate well on the phone but that's all we have right now.

About early February, my wife had a critical issue to take care of that took her to Germany. While she was there, she met with somebody who complained of just getting over being "bad-sick with the flu" and "the worst cough she ever had". We didn't realize until a week or so ago that she could have had coronavirus and not the flu. I remember not feeling great in Feb but not enough to stop what I was doing, including visiting my mom. Also, my wife's mom is under home care due to Alzheimer's, so we both could have spread it to them without knowing. Six weeks later, nobody is ill. So, I don't know what to think about it all. We behave as if we have not been exposed to it and that's probably the case. IDK.

If a finger prick test were available to test for antibodies against corona-virus, I'd sign up for it tomorrow. I'd gladly wear a bracelet to show my results too.

I should not drink and post, because this is what I thought of....

Yeah, we are just like that couple when diving. Totally ripped and mostly naked. :hump:

In my dreams. It's so different diving in waters off this coast. 50 F water, strong currents, big waves and 6 foot visibility. I wear a drysuit when on SCUBA and a thick neoprene wetsuit when free diving. The only part that is exposed are my cheeks and part of my forehead. Diving is cancelled for the present. I hope to get back to it in September.

Shit I live in Michigan so diving here mean diamond hard nipples and non-existent scrot. At that point visibility stops mattering.

The Great Lakes are world famous for the wreck dives. I haven't been but what I've seen in photos and video, visibility is pretty good too.

True story and totally off topic. When I was 12 or so, I'd go into the Northern CA waters to boogie board wearing just my swim suit. Water was freezing cold but I got numb and would spend hours in the surf line where I could just stand, catching waves when I could. When I came in, I was horrified to find that the sand on the boogie board had rubbed my nipples raw. Red raw. Even wearing a shirt hurt.

Didn't stop me. I wore a tee shirt the next time. I learn slow.

Used to use a neoprene wetsuit as a youngen, I wasn't into it too much, had an air card and the basic gear, when I moved to Moncton in 78 I sold my gear to a friend. Visibility is an issue much of the time around here on the Atlantic coast, lots of life in the water, it's thick with it in summer, gets pretty dark quick down deep up here. I never dove in the winter, you don't do that with a wet suit unless ya wanna scream first for a minute or two and the deeper you are the more useless it is. Snorkeled for years as a kid before I took the course. Always dive with a buddy was the motto back then, it can be a hazardous hobby even when you follow all the rules and checklists..
