Yeah most strains all the hairs will turn orange, then once that happens you know the calyces have swollen. Harvesting comes down to preference after that point. Some strains may keep throwing new white hairs but Ive rarely had any, I usually wait longer than most, as I prefer a narcotic type high, which would normally be picked later.
Basically, keep her happy, and have the patience until all those white hairs have died back (orange) completely... Then, you can start checking when to harvest, But if you're in mass, and your sativas just started... you may have a hard time getting those to finish before the cold... I dont know your setup or specific location, but some sativas will go well into late oct-nov.. and depending on the weather, it may be game over for those. Strain selection is super important in mass, Im always trying to find early finishing mold resistant strains to run outdoors here.
