While the suppressed vote in the 2018 race might not have been enough to flip the outcome, it did light a fire under black folk in Georgia. The lawsuits that followed did made some very real changes. But the biggest thing was to get people who had not voted because they didn't think the Democrats had a chance registered and out to the polls.

Stacy Abrams is a hero to me. She went forward despite being told it was a wasted effort by Democrats back then.

  • "As Majority Leader, President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will have a partner who is ready, willing and able to help achieve a forward-looking agenda and deliver help and bold change to the American people," Schumer said.
Schumer's new title makes him the first Jewish lawmaker to become Senate majority leader in US history, and the first New Yorker to hold that post.

The world was wondering what the hell happened to America. It was nothing but a wrong turn. We've turned around and are back on track.

The strongest Democracy in the world is still here and stronger than ever. We're closing the book on trump.

I don't usually like to dance in public, but I've got errands to do and I'll be dancing in the aisles to this song in my head, picturing Calvin and Hobbes.

I did do a little jig after running into the living room to tell the wife Warnock had pulled ahead. At 0100 when Ossoff took the lead, I had to be quiet, as she was sleeping.

Black Voters Matter Co-Founder: Black Voters In Georgia Fuel 'New Southern Strategy'

In an interview with Latisha Brown, co-founder of the movement, New Southern Strategy" that focuses on registering and helping new Black voters make their voice heard, she gave her view that contrasts what Stacy Abrams who lost a close election to what Trump has done after he lost:

On whether the election results are Stacey Abrams' revenge

I don't know if I see it as the revenge of Stacey Abrams. I see it as poetic justice. That here it is, in 2018, this election that she literally energized and worked hard and really was able to bring together a multiracial, multigenerational coalition. ...

And quite frankly, those of us who were doing work on the ground with this excitement and energy, we're very confident that that race was stolen from her. It was taken from her.

And so instead of her moving from a space of spite and revenge, as Donald Trump moved, she did something very different. She operated in a sense of integrity. She redirected her energy and she actually went deeper. So what I think happened is more so than seeing it as revenge, I see it as poetic justice.

My hero got some recognition yesterday.

U.S. voting rights activist Stacey Abrams nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

OSLO (Reuters) - U.S. voting rights activist and Democratic Party politician Stacey Abrams has been nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize for her work to promote nonviolent change via the ballot box, a Norwegian lawmaker said on Monday.

Abrams, whose work was credited with boosting voter turnout last year, helping Joe Biden win the U.S. presidency, joins a long list of nominees, including both former President Donald Trump and his son-in-law, former White House adviser Jared Kushner.

“Abrams’ work follows in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s footsteps in the fight for equality before the law and for civil rights,” said Lars Haltbrekken, a Socialist Party member of Norway’s parliament.

“Abrams’ efforts to complete King’s work are crucial if the United States of America shall succeed in its effort to create fraternity between all its peoples and a peaceful and just society,” Haltbrekken said.

Her generous gap toothed smile makes my heart flutter.
