Good argument & is one way to approach the destruction of Trump & the GOP
I think another approach could be a focused attack not on Trump, but on the entire RNC.
Now is the time to really show/point out the hypocrisy/depravity in general in the GOP, not just Trump, but his entire party.
They right now are self-destructing, showing everyone that they are Trump and it wouldn't take much effort to drive home that point.
Trump will always have his base so they don't matter & but the Republicans are not exactly popular now.
That should be pointed out from now on until the midterms
Focus on the assholes that are Republicans (there is no shortage of them) & tie them directly to that fucked up Party and interlink them so everyone thinks all Republicans are assholes.
Fucking attack all of them now & make Trump good for something, the desruction of the GOP.
I think it would be a mistake for House Democrats to run against Trump or Republican Trumpism in 2022. It didn't work in 2020. Trump is in the background, always anyway. He's always spouting off and the few Republicans who don't like Trump will be affected by what he says. It's the ambiguous right wing voter. The right leaning Independent or Republican-Obama voters that a candidate running in a contested race needs to attract. Democrats can win back those voters running on traditional Democratic core values like health care, education, collective bargaining, environmental issues and civil rights. A counter to the backlash against defund the police is important too.

Same goes with Senate races except in some states where Republicans went too far trying to overturn the election, such as Arizona, Nevada, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

That's the Achilles heel of the GOP, Independents & sensible Republicans voting Democratic.
I think it can happen
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

I think that for the Democratic nomination process that the candidates should speak up on all of the ways that they think would benefit the voters across the board, and keep hammering it throughout of course, but once they are in the primary they need to also explain the insurrectionist hate mongers that are running for office. People need to understand fully how the attack (foreign dictator and domestic terrorists backed Republicans) on our society is occurring and the Democrats can't just ignore it, because it is what will determine if there is anything that can get done that they have been talking about doing in the following two years. Because without a super majority in the Senate and winning back the House any progress will get stalled out due to the obstructionist trolls in the Republican party.

And everyone from the Democratic nominees to the news companies need to keep their eye on the ball and truly understand why which story is in the current media cycle and not fall for bullshit troll traps that are being manufactured.

Exactly.

Trump cannot be convicted this year. Boring people like an earlier poster who mindlessly drone "can't ever because he hasn't yet" are prisoners of the moment. As Beau points out, a third of the US jury pool is never going to listen to recordings or see evidence without their preconceived belief sealing their minds away from the facts. That would be today's situation. The situation will change as more facts and testimony are produced by the committee. Maybe in two years, the situation will be different. Maybe in four.

The goal of the Jan 6 commission is to uncover all the evidence, all the plans, document all the actions and who did them so that lawmakers can craft legislation so that it can't happen again. Well, guess what? They can't pass that legislation until enough authoritarian radicals are replaced with people who can see the facts for what they are. So, can't convict Trump this year and can't pass new legislation this year. This means 2022 elections are critical. That's where the Jan 6 investigation can help. Get information out to the public. Get high level Republican insurrectionists to incriminate themselves either at the hearing podium or in court. Get some to flip and use them to tell their own supporters the story. We don't need a landslide in 2022, we need to hold the House and add a few seats to the Senate and then the field is clear.

But there should be no hurry. Most important is to realize nothing of significance will happen this year even if a smoking gun is found among the evidence and testimony. Most important are the political objectives for Democrats be achieved. IF Republicans should win control of Congress, we will be stuck with them but Biden will be able to stop them from chiseling away at the foundations of our democracy. The can't win long term. The only way they can win is with a knockout blow. Avoid that and do good work in investigating and communicating the workings of Trump's party leading up to the insurrection. What we need is timely progress and good hard work from our elected officials. The ones that aren't q-tards, that is.
first it was "he's going down, he'll be in a new york jail cell before the end of the year"....then it was "Garland is just making sure all the i's are dotted"....then it was "these things take time, they want it to all happen right before the elections"...
you better hope we maintain a majority, or this is fucking over, and everyone who fucked over America will be free to do it again...and again....

As much as i would love to see Trump locked up and in an orange jumpsuit, combover all flopped over etc. ... He's too rich. He's too "tied in". It'll never happen.

It just drives me crazy that so many poor, cucky white assholes not only support this guy who doesn't do anything to support them other than lower gas prices to fill up their pickups, but they straight-up lick his loafers.

Loafer-lickers. It's like a bootlicker, but at least someone who wears boots, probably supports what you do. Licking the loafers of someone who doesn't give a shit about you, is just comically sad.

That kind of logical fallacy is a classic. It's called prisoner of the moment. look it up if you want to know more.

In my earlier post, we agree "at the moment". Give it time.

The Dems have to really, really drive home the fact that Republicans only care about power for themselves, not the good of the society at large.

Make these faces the face of the GOP, so when Republican is mentioned, these ugly motherfuckers are the 1st thing they think of.

Yes, these ARE the GOP of the 21st century.

I don't think they'll like that.

DIY's posts are not representative of reality. Love the guy but he's been saying Trump will be impeached or put in jail from day 1 of his presidency and even before then.

Trump is a billionaire with a money laundering empire that services who knows how many powerful dictators and influential billionaires. It's not inevitable that he will see justice. It is clearly not possible now. So the strategy must be to do what's necessary to make it possible. But that's not the only good outcome we could see. Tarring Trump, the leader of the Republican Party also tars them.

trump, like Biden, had no significant control over gas prices aside from releasing strategic reserves which may lower prices a few cents a gallon.

trump never “lowered gas prices”.

It makes sense if you understand authoritarians and their followers. It's scarier too.

Authoritarian Nightmare isn't a particularly good book but it gives context to what Trump and his followers are doing. The following review gives some background and information on both the book and the subject. I wouldn't buy it but it was available at my local library.

or we can get more people to take an interest and continue voting..if the people were able to pull off a landslide for Biden why wouldn't they do it for Midterms?

making Biden president was only half the job.

making Biden president wasn't even part of the job, getting trump out of office was the job...someone 20 to 30 years younger, without a history of supporting foreign invasions, (Iraq, Serbia, Libya, Syria...)...and not quite so old school old man white establishment would have been a lot better...but there was no one like that available, not that could get the votes to get rid of trump....so that's why we have Biden, he was the right tool for that job...lets see what the next three years brings

tomato/tomaato.

i had to look up Bull Connor, though.

the best scenario for 2022 would be everyone that voted Biden votes Midterm.

the presidential race is only half the job.

Trump doesn't wear loafers and he never lowered gas prices.
