New to growing, advice please and thank you

Well, until I get a bigger place to grow, I want to remain low scale. If someone could tell me how much I can expect to yield per plant (Average maybe) I can make a better assumption as to how many. I just want enough to last me, ya know? Since I only have the one room, enough to last me about 3-4 months, so about 2-4 pounds maybe?

I think, though, I will just do CFL because I can add little by little, since I have a really hard time saving XD

2-4 pounds isn't happening in that room...You gotta learn to walk before you can run, little guy! If you use CFL's, you'd be lucky to get an ouce per plant your first try, more likely a half to a quarter oz per....and MH and HPS is more likely to yield higher, but it really depends on your growing style, length of veg, feeding schedule, and general environment...think ounces, not pounds...Not unless you wanna invest a LOT more money...we're talking like $800+

The sad thing is, I'll smoke an ounce in like a week or two. This is starting to look less and less viable in this space/my budget. It'd almost be cheaper to just buy it. I was wanting to grow to have my own supply and save money =S

Don't get me wrong, you can grow, but you're not gonna get pounds, especially not you first time around...Thats a real investment...sorry boss!

No, CFL's would lengthen your time from seed to harvest if anything...MH and HPS are the way to go to grow pounds..and hydroponics...like DWC is pretty cheap and easy.

I wish I'd known more before I started. How much would a hydro/DWC setup cost me, if I were going cheap then expanding?

2-4 pounds, this made me laugh hard dude. Thats serious lights to grow that and serious ventilation. Rooms probably big enough. Small cfls yeild small as well not that im against em but they just do. Need a lot for a good harvest when a 400w will do a better job. Spend the money and get bigger yeilds, that said learn to grow first. Peace

Should I go hydro instead? It looks like it has better potential. I'd still need HID and HPS lights, sure but wouldn't that make a better flow for myself? With the SoG system, can't I just keep them all in one room or what?

I made a thread in the hydro forum about it, heavily considering it

I got a good thread on hydro from a large scale hydro ebb and flow, gives all details of any hydro grow and this guy is legendary, makes for one damn good read. Hydro aint easy to get right being a beginner neither cheap for good equipment, people use all sorts of everyday stuff if your damn good at diy. Learn to grow befor thinking big i say though, keep it simple and small till you get good then bam go pro!lol! If your always gona grow in hydro then go hydro. Peace

Ok, so my electric bill is about to jump a hundred and fifty bucks a month, isn't that like a huge red flag to the energy company?

Depends which country you live in, if you run ac units and lots of other things then no, try and increase it over time as well to avoid big jumps but i doubt 400w and a fan gona make much difference. Peace

Go to the hydro/aero forum and read all 'Al B Fucts' threads, he is good at hydro and tells it like it should be, i read a few, amazing. Peace

What if I were to do an SoG system in a single room? I'd need the mother in constant veg, right. So a fluorescent on her, I'd put a blanket dividing her little corner up so she doesn't get her light on anyone vegging. Maybe black lawn and leaf bags. Then I'd need a light for clones, they'd just need fluorescent because they'd be vegging til I brought them over to the 4-tubs that rotate. Say I put four plants in each of the four tubs. One or two 400W HPS lights on them? They'd be flowering at this point.

So I'd need two flourescents and one or two 400w HPS lights. Looking at a cost of around 500 bucks for my entire hydro setup, right? I'd need pumps, neuts and PVC.

Check out the hydro forums, they got tons more info than me, Al B Fuct got like 4 stickies there full of everything you need to know hydro wise. Seriously i read a few and they are long but you seriously get the hang of hydro. Peace
