DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

If used in the tea, I suppose enzymes would help break down the molasses quicker, but that really isn't necessary. In fact we want things to unfold on their own in the tea, which is why we let it brew 48 hours. Some microbes wake up in the presents of food, other wake up in the presents of other microbes (cos they are food).

The tea goes bad because after a while it looses it's oxygen and becomes anaerobic. Beneficial microbes tend to be aerobic and die off without oxygen, while pathogenic microbes thrive in an anaerobic environment.
So I can brew a 2 gallon pot like you and keep it bubbling and just dip some out when needed at room temp?

Does this mean it wont go bad as I am supplying oxgen 247 and dropping molasses in every so often?

*EDIT: Found answer few pages in.

little tea issue, my roots seem to be weak and when I feel them there seems to be a clear film almost slimy but not visible. when I say weak roots
I mean kinda mushie! and some just fall off?

my tea is the same i have been using for almost a year now

1) 1tsp myco madness
2) 2 tsp of molassis
3) 2 hand fulls of ancient forest

brewed for 48hr
Mushy roots are dying roots. Roots die peraodically here an there in a normal grow, especially near the end. If the amount of mushy roots is unreasonable, it normally points to low oxygen/high temps. It could also be from a chemical burn of the roots, severe hot/cold water, ect. This is asuming your tea brew is up to par.

Sorry to jump in but has anyone actually tried growing with dwc in a clear container using this tea? I don't have time to read the whole thread yet but I was thinking that might be an awesome way to keep a bonzai plant as a little desk accent in my room...
See the cloning post around page 69.

hey there coul not find great white or aquashield anyone ever use wilt guard and regen a root by cx hydroponics thats what the guy at the hydro store sold my wife anyone ever use it?
Wilt guard is a fungicide, regen a root is a chemical root stimulant. This is the opposite approach to tea treatments.

This video claims cannabis should stop growing new roots shortly into the flower cycle. I would find this unusal. Root growth slows down for me, but doesn't stop until shortly before harvest.

Here is a root i pulled out of my destroyed flower res. It has some kind of shell on it. Any ideas what this is? Any suggestions?

Never seen anything quite like that before. Was the root beneath the shell firm and healthy?

I made the tea using the standard ingredients in the directions. This is my 2nd batch, and I noticed some white chunky things. Is this normal? There like little globs but not a whole bunch
The only white globs I see are from microfoam. As long as your tea does not smell bad I wouldn't worry about it.

So as long as I crown feed the tea you think I'll be ok to run a high pressure nozzle? My setup is a 100 gallon RDWC system and I'm using the tea for my diatom infested city water
Yes, and if your plants roots sit in any water add some housing, like lavarocks.

seems very light on molasses. I think you need 2 tbl instead of 2 tsp

I know for a FACT that is DEAD WRONG. I has a Cloud #9 in flower like 3 weeks and started budding with a crappy root system that I neglected, and I decided to give it a fighting chance and chopped like 70% of the roots away. Within three days white big thick ass roots exploded, and plant went on to be a great producing and smoking plant.

I mean I do ALL kinds of NO-NO things to plants and they all bounce back or keep growing like champs. I think a lot of this "expert advice" everyone hears or gives is mostly wrong or exaggerated.

Heisenberg I remember when you first posted your recipe ages ago lol, right when I first started. Had immediate results & never stopped. I'm glad of how big you've gotten this recipe you've had to helped hundreeeds minimum to have great white root systems :).
The big three Aquasheild, zho, and ancient forest are awesome :) + with root66 my results are just astonishing lol thats why hydro will always taking a big dump on soil lol. Bigger roots. More nutes. Bigger plants. Bigger buds. A higher me :) I thank you & wish you a happy new year

They look just fine but I suspect that plant is getting up there in age, thus the discoloration.
Yeah veg was delayed quite a bit because of early root problems, would have been able to flower weeks earlier if i didn't encounter these problems. Do you think flowering should be right on track still?

My cheese strain has a mosaic virus. :( This seems to be a very mild variant, as my final product is not really affected. My fan leaves bleach out near the end of harvest, yield seems slightly reduced, but other than that the only symptoms are the distinct discoloration patterns and the side curl deformity. Resin production seems unaffected. It has not spread to other strains, even though they have shared a res. I roll my own tobacco which is where I suspect the virus came from, although I do not think it is the tobacco mosaic virus, which seems much more devastating. Cheese is a really special strain, and I have a really nice pheno. I will miss it.

Sorry to bug but im about to flower my BlueWalker (blue dream x skywalker). I was going to use b'cuzz Bloom but now see that it is organic. I had some root rot and got it some what under control, but I know it is an ongoing battle. I remember reading that you shouldnt use any organic nutes with the tea, and also no enzymes. Would the b'cuzz Bloom fall under this category? and if so what is a good replacement?

Were also using multi-zen with the A&B. Would that counter-effect the tea?

Heisenberg,

I have been using your tea for a week now, and things are starting to look very promising, root growth is taking off :)

I'm thinking of adopting your cloning method on page 69, but had a few questions. First, how do you get the cup to stay above the water pump without flying off? Next, how high do you keep the water level relative to the stem of the cutting? And finally, you say you just use the tea, no other rooting agents with 100% success rate (which is amazing). Do you recommend against dipping the cut in some replicator, or olivias, or could it help?

Thanks!
