Resetting PRAM and NVRAM

1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.

Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.
Resetting PMU on PowerBook or iBook computers

In some troubleshooting situations, if resetting PRAM does not resolve an issue, resetting the PMU may be the next appropriate step. lol the computers in this post are crazy as shit.Right now I got this piece of shit that I paid 800 for back in like 02.I gotta put a fan up to the back of its power supply,plug this cord thats going into the main board thing in and out and pray until it wants to turn on.But still this things a fucking beast and I cant believe it lasted this long,I went through like 5 or 6 computers in the last 5 years and I dont even do nothing to fuck them up.I just listen to music on them.I dont think im gonna grab another laptop cause by the end of the year they dont even want to turn on.

If I had to work with a pc, I'd have to open a plastics recycling facility shortly thereafter.

And as i've said many times, you can buy shit, or you can buy good quality. I've worked with my pc's for years and years, never had a single thing break other than by my own doing. There is no difference in quality between a mac and something i'd own myself in fact i'd personally go as far as to say that the mac hardware is greatly inferior to what i have lying around.

...right, but you likely have blips and beeps in your head that the average user doesn't. Some average users cannot open the box a pc came in without getting a scar so if there are parts lying around on the floor it's only 'cause they chucked the damn thing in anger.

al the mac techs i know use this program for everything. a macOS disk and disk warrior are all uneed to be a mac tech lol

...if you get it going, there is likely a preferences file that is pooched (more on that later). In your spotlight icon (upper, far right) there may a flashing dot while the drive is being indexed, if it doesn't stop, it could be 'mama', and she ain't that cheap.

...one more tiny trick that could get you going. After shutting down, start up again but hold the power button until you hear a 'long-ish' beep. The beep is almost snarly, like you've offended the computer, but no worries. (haha...)

Disconnect all external devices from your computer except the power adapter. Restart your MacBook Air while holding down the D key.
When the Apple Hardware Test chooser screen appears, select the language for your location.
Press the Return key or click the right arrow button.
When the Apple Hardware Test main screen appears (after about 45 seconds), follow the onscreen instructions.
If Apple Hardware Test detects a problem, it displays an error code. Make a note of the error code before pursuing support options. If Apple Hardware Test doesn’t detect a hardware failure, the problem may be software related.
