I dont blame the department itself. I blame the lack of funding and support. The department has no more then 15 people at its peak. Then the card machine broke and they actually ended up buying another one. Just let it be, you got it a lot better then a lot of other people on rollitup.

lol. ...after a few years, there is no excuse. I am pretty damn sure the entire government has a pretty bad reputation of being a bunch of monkeys trying to fuck a football. Out of the thousands of people waiting on cards, about seven of them are surprised about it.

It is because somewhere up the Capitol they have restricted the size of the department handling the mmj. Any new help or support is few and far between. A change needs to be made in the place where decisions about the department are made. Not the department itself, their doing what they can. 800 cards printed a day, 1500 applications then show up on a average day. Even if they only received 1000 applications a day they would still be further and further behind as time goes on.

I agree completely. The puppet masters at the top are the ones pulling all the strings (i.e. the entire snyder / schuette administration). I may not be current on this figure but from what I read some time ago, the state has already made over 2 MIL pure profit from rubber stamping patient applications @ $100 a pop so they have no argument that there isn't enough money for appropriate funding.

Of course they're pocketing the money....that's one of the main points of the hypocrisy. They take our money and then call us all no good drug abusers just out to abuse the law and then work to subvert the law. Shit we're not even talking about "the will of the people anymore" - we're talking about the fucking LAW. It's just amazing to me that these civil servants are getting away with screwing so many people. Next time you hear a LEO say that they only enforce the law, they don't make the law....call bullshit.

Its not corruption though. (at least from my perspective) They are just rerouting the money to other programs and services. While I dont necessarily mind the idea of money going to help the other parts of Michigan's government, I think that should only be a portion of the money and the majority should go to improving the MMMJ program.

This is of the same token. Its ok that it happens theres no need for the Department to hang on to all the money they have. When you start making and then keeping profits in a gov department it is the one of the many things that can start screwing up government even more.
It just goes into the budget and then is applied.

I think we all agree with the basic idea of taxation and legalization but along with taxation we need representation and as of this point, it seems we have very little of it in our state legislature and governor's office. It's not right that the state takes our money that contributes to the well being of our communities and then attack us at every end from rogue law enforcement and ignorant judges to state legislators that refuse to observe the law.

It's too bad that since the campaign to "just say no" the pharmaceuticals have a twenty year head start shoving television drug advertising profits into the correct hands in government in order to help shape the state of the health care industry of today.
Thanks to many well spent hundreds of millions of dollars, we have but one alternative in the minds of government, and that's the triumberant of doctor, insurance company, and pharmaceutical industry. Just don't expect government to pay for it. Affordable medical care is not your right, and with all those pharmaceutical dollars rolling in, it's certainlly not a problem they need to fix, pay for, or even address.
Only when the Kush sticky note pads and GDP bic pens start showing up at your family doctors offices will we know that the marijuana lobby money is starting to trickle down to the politicians, we've made an impact in the health care community, and started down the path to medical acceptance of marijuana.

I just want the fuckers to observe the law. Get caught with a few grams or a couple ounces without a card or recommendation paperwork and then you'd care about having a card, because that's the difference between a couple years of probation with monthly piss tests (which you get to pay for), a couple thousand dollars in fines (possibly even a felony charge), and $500 - several thousand to a lawyer to handle the case - or having your card / paperwork and getting to go home safely. I guess that's not a real life issue or anything...
I don't know about y'all here but I value both my freedom and the money I work hard for.
