when austerity measures only target the easy marks, like welfare and the dole, which are small potatoes compared to the real problems of civil service mandarins and their platinum compensation packages, corporate and bank fellatio, and free handjobs and cookies for civil service unions, then of course austerity fails. cuz it's not austerity.

if a guy with a 5 pack a day smoking habit starts going broke, cutting back on his carrot and broccoli purchases may seem like an easy and pain free solution but it aint fixin shit when he continues to dump $25 a day on Camels.

greece is in the shit with the EU regulators because their budget austerity was designed to be easy, and pain free (for the mandarins)

My momma used to buy sticks of Pall Mall. I still remember how the smoke from a trayed cig would rise straight up, begin to curl and then form a thin haze layer at the 50-inch level in the living room. That cured me of ever wanting to smoke cigs. cn

Also you'll notice that layer of smoke usually has sort of a blue colour to it...but when exhaled its just white/grey. Scary shit.

The smoke slowly streaming from an undisturbed cig: blue in front; yellow in back. I remember.

However I think it was physics and not chemistry. Blue smoke is made of smaller particles iirc. cn
