Im a registered patient caregiver in a legal state. After getting sick a while back I could no longer tattoo full time, I had to find a different income. After a lot of reading and asking questions I decided to hire an attorney that specializes in MMJ. My income now is solely from being a caregiver. I understand I am still taking some risk and that sucks but I realize Im not really a target provided I follow regs and dont get greedy.

From everything Ive seen and read the Feds are going after large dispensaries and caregivers that get greedy. I dont agree with it, but it is what it is. I really cant see how any grower could at all support the war on MMJ or the war on drugs. Well, the only reason I can see is out of personal greed I suppose.

With that said, Im off to see my attorney and sign another freaking check :(

Sucks to have a system in place that I have to tip toe around and not be forthright about what it is that I actually do.
that's exactly what i've noticed as well.

here in oregon, the law does not allow for dispensaries, but we have them anyway. they popped up like wildfire right after the obama/holder announcement. the state made some statement (state AGs) about how they were going to crack down on them.

they've busted 2 or 3 of them to my knowledge, and each one they busted was selling meds at inflated prices ($7+ per gram) and sliding scale (price goes down as purchase goes up).

since we're only allowed to accept reimbursement for supplies and utilities, it means the price has to be the same per gram whether you let a gram go or a pound go. and that price has to be dirt cheap since weed is cheap and easy to grow.

i can still go to any number of dispensaries in the area if i want. all of them illegal under state and federal law.

some crackdown.

Weed is easy to grow, but that doesnt mean you're growing medicine.:dunce:
Anyone can put a seed in the ground, but unless you spend alot of money to make sure it has the best it wont be medicinal quality.

it does not cost $400 an ounce to grow medicine. FACT.
Probably not, but considering everything it's probably more than you think.

My electric bill is $485 a month, coco and perlite, nutes, water, equipment costs, legal fees, state fees and licensing fees, compensation for my time in the garden and trimming.

The yield thing is so variable. One of my most popular strains has a terrible yield. The quality is worth it though.

BTW I have a sliding scale fee system and donate meds to one patient for no compensation

believe me when i say i have some experience on what it costs to grow.

$400 an ounce is never justifiable.

It doesn't cost $400 a zip to produce. Well I guess if your grow is in Manhattan or some crazy expensive location. I've been at this for close to 2 decades, I know what it costs. It doesn't cost $400 a zip.

That being said if someone wants to pay that much it's their prerogative. I have $ invested in my business, operating expenses, my time and the risk I take. I aint doin this for free, but I'm not out to screw people either. The whole price issue is pretty heated in the caregiver community around here. Personally IMHO $300 is as high as I can go. Look at my pics, I dont grow shwag either

If it matters my patients are on a sliding scale, it's solely income dependent. I have a very wealthy patient that pays $300. Now he does that voluntarily in order to subsidize low income patients. Because of his generosity I can supply a disabled patient for no charge

it definitely could cost you 400 an oz grow

example: if you grow like 2 plants under a 1,000 watt that are frail a sickly and only produce an ounce each and take a long time to finish

I say if you know what you doing it doesnt but generally if your an amatuer or a bad grower or don't invest much time in your garden then it definitly could, hell I bet it could even cost you a lot more if you fucked up bad enough.. Sure its a stretch but its possible.

I still don't agree that selling for 400 an ounce is justifiable, its not even possible to do that here actually, nobody will pay it...well very few people...250$ is like the top of the line unless you just don't know anyone and have to go to a dispensary or something.
