    My Babies Need Help

Possible that they just weren't ready for the root66. I usually wait a bit longer before giving them anything but water. Cuttings do great with rooting products, but seedlings can grow a handful of nodes without food.

white hairs on my hoe turning orange?

What is it? Many strains produce colored pistils. Are they shriveling and retracting into the calyx or are they just orange?

4th week closet grow under shop lights

Lumens are for humans, not plants. I seriously doubt that you are producing more usable light than the sun even with the bulbs that close. Those were popped from seeds. If you have been messing with nutes, you've identified your own wilting problem. They didnt even need nutes at all yet. When...

    4000k 240v

Less current is less heat. 240v is just a better way to deliver more power to a high-draw device without increasing the current to the device. A 10 amp 120v circuit will be notable hotter than a 5 amp 240v circuit.

pics CFL Grow. Questions for all the experts out there

Plants are vascular. Water flows through the plants carrying nutrients to the leaves and synthesized food to the entire plant. Arguably, cutting anything off the plant will disrupt this flow until healed. The plant is perfectly capable of sacrificing leaves it no longer needs, reclaiming the...

    fimmed my plant..

If you cut too low and clipped the developing nodes off, the stem will stop there and the nodes directly below will take over. If you cut too high, you'll have some not-pointy leaves at this node. Considering the word 'missed' is part of the acronym FIM, it's not really an exact science.

Anbody know the lumen output for these bulbs?

T8 tubes are not very good to grow with, 2ft tubes put out about 1000 lumens each at best. Lumens are a human thing tho, not really relative to plants. Fluoros are about spectrums. Kelvin is a color rating, but also more for humans. 6500k fluoros tend to put out more blue spectrum and 2700k is...

so how does this deal sound?

If you like CFL's, and are looking to drop $130, why not look into t5 tubes. They are essentially the same thing as CFL's without the spirals, and you can get more light directed to the plant with them. I used CFL's to grow with until I had money to invest in better lighting options. If you are...

    What is flushing??

Now that you know what it is, best advice I can give is to do it on some plants, and don't do it on other plants. Then decide if you are a flusher or not. Opinions on this topic vary drastically.

    Grow box ideas?

This is one of my fish tanks, empty at the moment but putting seahorses in it soon. fits 2ft fluorescents or even a small hps. I just took some measurements, and you could easily squeeze a similar setup into a 4x12 cabinet.

    Cool Cab System

It's a complete grow system, how could you go wrong? If you have some DIY skills, you can build one for a whole lot less than 2 grand. Between their pics and specs you can pretty much figure out everything they put it together with.

    hermies?

Sour diesel will just about always do it. Let it flower too long and you'll see a pollen sac growing straight out of a calyx. A lone banana in a whole bud. Just cuz you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

    Light timer help!`

All the little levers between the times you want darkness must be pushed down. Not just the ones at the lights on and lights of times. If the switch is in the 'manual' setting, the lights will never turn off. At least for the first timer pictured, these are the only controls. If switch is set to...

Planting 2 plants in one 5 gallon pot

I'm no UB, but I do have some limited experience with this. A few times I have tried growing several plants in the same pot, and each time one plant was obviously doing better than the other(s). The only success I have had with this, I had taken 3 very small clones and put them in a 6" pot...

    Lollipopping

Forgive me for not reading all 42 pages, but doesn't this 'lollipopping' seem counter-intuitive? If you're going to grow a 3 foot plant, then strip off the bottom foot, why not just grow a 2 foot plant in less time without cutting it at all? Again, sorry for not reading thru the whole thread...

    4000k 240v

watts are watts. The input voltage makes no difference. 240v will draw half the amperage of 120v, but the same 'amount' of power will be used either way.

    this cant be normal

May sound obvious, but any light leaks? I have had an issue with a plant that was still producing new bud beyond 90 days flowering. after careful hunting I found a small gap in my cabinet's seal that was letting light in during the day(my light cycle was on at night).

    Cracked bulb Help please.

Oils evaporate pretty slowly. A small droplet might be enough to cause a hot spot. If the glass heats unevenly, stress fractures would seem a possibility. Hell, a fingerprint can shatter a halogen...

Yellowing leaves, micro nutes? ~40 days into flower.

I don't think you need any more Nitrogen. The leaves are starting to claw. If anything that indicates Nitrogen toxicity. Overall looks healthy enough tho, this late in the game I wouldn't worry about micro-nutes. Maybe adjust the bloom nutes for less N and keep on truckin.

    ^@$%^@$%^!

Grab a magnifying glass to be sure. Thinning leaves could be a nutrient/ph issue, but if there are bugs you will find them with a glass.
