Watering till run-off, but soil VERY dry

I prefer to pre-wet my mix* to the "perfect" hand-mixed moisture level and then fill a garden pot with it and take note of the weight. Then I transfer the plant from the 16 oz plastic cup and into the garden pot. After that, when I need to water, I simply nest the garden pot into a corresponding...

    how to get dense buds?

I'm growing 5 different plants at the moment....One of them has produced very chunky buds...One is almost like a tumbleweed....very weird sativa expression...One has thick stalks with widely-spaced internodes.....One is producing what appears to be small, popcorn buds all over the...

Do you follow fertilizer charts? Ever have issues?

Well, I agree that we treat these plants like children a lot of the time...and that's because we want them to grow up, be productive and not become infested. If they were just going end up as decorative yard plants, then yeah, no need to coddle them. However, if they are going to end up being...

Do you follow fertilizer charts? Ever have issues?

    I'm using Jack's 3-2-1 system this run and I couldn't be happier.

    Drying and curing

Drying is determined by hanging the plants in a very specific environment (60% humidity and 60 degreesF). You have a small fan that GENTLY circulates the air around the plants but never blows directly at them. It depends on the density of the buds/plants, but it usually takes a few plants 10...

What is the fastest finishing plant you've ever grown?

No autos please. I don't consider them to be the same type of plant.

What is the fastest finishing plant you've ever grown?

Just curious! I'm talking about RIPE plants -not plants that you had to harvest early because of schedule. I've had plants that looked ripe at 7 weeks, but I could never bring myself to harvest anything that early. My very, very minimum is 8 weeks but usually 10-12 weeks in the norm for me...

Strain SMELLS good...but taste doesn't transfer. Why?

I bought some DJ Short's Blueberry one time when was passing through Denver. It smelled great and when I got it in the rental car, it ws in the container, but it still made the car smell like really good blueberry weed. I was anxious to have it be like that old school blueberry taste, but it...

Is a 'nanner-made seed the same as an "S1"?

Is it the same thing if a female plant is chemically-induced to make a few male flowers that are then used to pollinate a female flower on that same plant....AND...a female plant that throws a few 'nanners and produces a seed? In either case, there is no way to get a male plant....right? This is...

    LM301H vs LM301H-EVO

The "future" (the next year or so) in grow lights is going to lean to tunable spectrums and lenses that redirect the light for better spread.

Can certain terpenes "cancel" other terpenes?

I guess MY point was to suggest that there might be specific compounds in complex hybrids that might "neutralize" the smells of other compounds.....And maybe the inclusion of all the strains in the world used to make more and more complex hybrids, nowadays, has created "contradictory" smells.

LST am I doin this shit right?

LOL! I HST'd my entire run this time and had the main branches literally horizontal. I even accidentally snapped off a main branch in half on one of my plants going too far...Oh well. The plants heal quickly and actually seem to like getting bullied....and they can take quite a bit of it, too...

Honest thoughts on Budwashing outdoor plants?

Fair enough. I check the weather app on my phone a lot and it gives the air quality, too. Because I live in a city, the outdoor air is often polluted with everything from car exhaust, forest fire smoke, etc. My indoor air, by comparison, is always good because it's so highly filtered.

Can certain terpenes "cancel" other terpenes?

I was just reading an article about "opposite smells" and found it interesting to think about in terms of explaining why there are no new strains that reeeeeaaalllly stink anymore. I was wondering if the inclusion of all the different strains that are used for hybrids, might have so many...

Honest thoughts on Budwashing outdoor plants?

Lots of people are slobs. Lots of people have pets and allow them to run everywhere. I see it all the time. However, myself and many others are extremely obsessive types who keep their indoor grow space surgically-clean. Most indoor growers who use tents also incorporate inline fans and filters...

    Curing with Grove Bags

The Grove Bag company recommends using moisture meter, but I've found that the best way to use them is to first do a slow dry in a 60 degreeF and 60% relative humidity environment for ~2 weeks. Then, after trimming, do a traditional, Mason jar burping process. When the buds are stabilized at the...

    Same clones for years

Too bad that breeders messed everything up decades ago when they bred all the smell (and flavor) out of the strains to try and keep their grows covert. Just goes to show that nature had it right with all the landrace strains that were genetically stable and consistent from seed. I heard...

    Nute burn or potash def

Check your pH runoff. I think it's rare for a soil mix to be deficient -especially if you're adding nutes, too. I think pH lockout is a MUCH more likely issue. -2 cents.
