You don't have to go in stages, just switch to 12/12 when you're ready. If you have the money, go for at least a 400w HPS. Best prices I've found are here: www.htgsupply.com . They can be tough to get ahold of at times, but they have the best customer service, bar none.

Temp is definately the controlling factor. I'm not sure how cold it has to be, though, but I'm sure you could search around the forum for the answer - or go to the grow logs, and check with a couple growers that do purple strains.

Oh - well I always top mine when they have five to six nodes - (about three weeks old for me, when vegging under CFL's) then cut half an inch to an inch above the second true node. That's for four main colas. (in your pic, that would be above where you labeled it third node).

I top my plants for four colas, and though I've done it many times now, it's never a nice feeling to take a scissors to something you spend so much time careing for. Don't worry - it's worth it in the end.

I know what NPK stands for - and you need the P, to be higher than the K, for flowering. Trust me - you don't need that much potassium to flower - and too much is a bad thing. Even with the bone meal, I wouldn't use it - the K is just too high. You are free to try it for yourself, of course.:peace:

She does look kind of small for eight weeks. I veg under CFL's as well, and top them at three weeks. Here's a pic their last day of veg, eight weeks old, for comparison. Other than that though, she looks healthy. More CFL's would definately help you out.

T5's work, for vegging for sure - but they will not beat an HID light for power. A fluoro is no comparison to a 1000w HID. Go with the HID's - and get air cooled hoods.
