An hps can work but is most beneficial during flowering stage. Mabye look at some cfl grows on here and mabye think about cfls for veg. It will help keep your temps lower too. I don't grow in a tent but in a small closet and also leave my door open with fans. Seems to be working fine for me...

Fox farm ocean forest is good soil. Temps shouldn't go above 82 and humidity should be around 60 percent. Try to maintain a lower rh during flowering so as not to get mouldy buds. Good luck.
