CFL 400 watt or 250 watt hps?

with 4' height restrictions you will need to flower clones immediately after the root (6-8") tall under HID lighting in a cooltube if you want to be happy with the results. Flowering with floros is not a part of any successful recipes:peace:

3 or just 2.. would be better??

better yes, 1kw in a square 5x5 is giving only 40watts per foot(closer to 50 is better)......reflectors tend to throw a rectangular pattern so that with the added watts would be great:!::bigjoint:

    400 watt hps

a $300 loan it sounds like---sry, but exhaust in a small grow space is vital. it won't cost you $300 but you have priced fans............so you know:peace: It will hit upper 90s fahrenheit without and plants will suffer:-?

If you can cool it in that space.....seems to make mathematical sense......particularly for vert grows.......:hump: I love cubic space and was thinking vert from the get-go, but hey.....one step at a time as I see it......crawl before walking sort of thinking:mrgreen:

    couple questions

The fans should have the wattage on them.....watts/votage=amps...... The filters you are seeing can be placed on intake end or exhaust end of duct work.....on the intake may work best for you if you need it inside the grow room:mrgreen:

3 or just 2.. would be better??

Draw the outline of the area your plants will be flowered in say 5x4??--20 square feet--50 watts a foot=One 1KW lamp......50 watts per square foot of flowering canopy is right-on......Since plants will end up as bushes about 4'tall if flowered around 16" you will want the 1kw for penetration or...

    400 watt hps

Sure, sounds great 'till here.....a muffin pan?? care to elaborate?? I would think you will need an air-cooled HID light in that size space if you are trying to keep temps in the target range for cannabis :blsmoke:

    8fx9fxf high room

Ok I don't know what that is but I hope it isn't very tall.......you only have 6'h ceilings........ Are you talking about filter/fan combos? Or an exhaust and intake fan with independant filters?? Yield depends more on wattage.....1200 watts.....with everything under perfect (or...

    Big Lights Small Space

An air-cooled 400 is enough for that space (44ish watts per foot). So you could get an air-cooled hood to go with your current ballast or a new 600w that is air-cooled. The 600 will likely improve yield and density for you with its 66+watts per foot....either way temps should drop a good...
