    Step into my grow room

Here are some Vero 10 tear down pics The yellow phosphor is a soft rubbery silicone, up till now I thought it was hard like regular LED domes. Notice the wire bonding and how the wires are embedded in the silicone. Removing the silicone destroys the bonds so there is no easy way to get a...

    Step into my grow room

There are 50 Vero10's total in the flower room (and 9 in the veg room). The Vero 3000K is too warm (lacks blue), 3500K is good, 4000K is excellent. The maximum temperature in the flower room is 31C. It never gets warmer than that, the plants will cool things down as long as they get plenty of...

    Cree CXA analysis

I didn't know Mr.X but found the original thread here. He's using a SoG with low intensity lighting, which is a good way to get a high GPW. His results look perfectly credible to me. About the efficiency of no name LEDs, in my experience they do a lot better than 15%, typically around 30%...

DiY LEDs - How to Power Them

Imo sanding stars is truly unnecessary, even if it's not fully flat there is still a huge contact area. Do the math and save some skin.

Apache AT600 led vs 1000w HPS Blue Dream Grow

Looking great GG, looks a bit like the battlestar that Gaius build. But one wall wart powering all fans is not very reliable. I've had two of these adaptors fail. It looks like a 2A/24W model which on paper is sufficient for the ~16W of the fans. But in reality, when turning the power on, the...

800 watt bridgelux outdoor floodlights grow

That's pretty good customer service from Bridgelux. I read that they have only 120 employees. All production facilities and patents have been sold to Toshiba.

    Step into my grow room

There are 50 vero10's, 6 strings of 5 and 5 strings of 4. It is just grown that way. In hindsight I would have made 10 strings of 5. Also there's 25x 3500K plus 25x 4000K but I would have preferred to have all 4000K. The T bar is grown as a habit, starting with Chinese single LEDs, it worked...

800 watt bridgelux outdoor floodlights grow

You can ask if it's really Bridgelux chips (or dies) inside, i.e. one of these. Btw I discovered that Vero's probably don't contain Bridgelux dies... can you ask who makes the Vero dies for them?

    Step into my grow room

Thx guys... Right now the flower room is packed like never before On the left are two Blue Dreams and one of them is very stretchy. This started right away when the seed was sprouted and grew absurdly thin and long. Since it was getting too tall I had to pinch & bend some stems That was...

    10x Vero 13 build - Request input

The Vero 4000K is already excellent for flowering, no additions needed.

    10x Vero 13 build - Request input

Looks like a solid plan. With the HLG driver you have room for two extra Vero's to make a 3x4 arrangement. If it becomes too much light or power it can always be dimmed. In my experience the Vf is lower than stated in the specs (which is a good thing). Be safe with the 400V of that driver.

CXA 3000°K 80 vs 93 CRI .An Estimation.

Yes this would give you a single number for each type of LED; You could use that to compare different LEDs. Ah you did some deep digging there! The supplemental lighting in normal greenhouses is at a very low level; 200 umol would already be considered very high. The research on action spectra...

CXA 3000°K 80 vs 93 CRI .An Estimation.

I have no clue how the DIN data was obtained but believe it's mostly geared towards green leafy vegetables. DIN is not an open scientific institute, it's pay to play unfortunately. The graph I posted is indeed based on incident power. As a suggestion, you can convolve one action spectrum with a...

This is the McCree 1972 data vs DIN-5031-10 from 2000 ("alt") and from 2013 ("neu"). Will the real action spectrum step forward please.

    DIY Modular LED-Light

Lets do the math for fun and insight. The total PPFD is 300+30+50 = 390 umol/m2/s, the area is 0.16 m2, so PPF = 390*0.16 = 62.4 umol/s. There is 115W going in, so the total PAR efficiency is 62.4/115 = 0.54 umol/J. This means we hobbyists are doing three times better than NASA!
