perlite is pretty cheap nowadays. If you have a couple extra bucks to spend what i like to do is mix 3/4 cup of hydroton per gallon of soil. allows quick drying and good aeration, but im sure perlite could do the same thing. i just have a thing for adding hydroton

just hang in there and harvest when some of the trichomes have turned orange. I personally don't wait until 50/50. In my opinion you cant change a plants genetic effects by having more amber trichs. If a plant is a genetic body high, it WILL be a body high. IMO
