    kitty's flower garden part 2

Hi mugan, I have no idea. Can't be more the 40yr. It came with the house and that wasn't built until the mid 1960's....the main part of the tree stands dead, but thanks to the shallow soil, we have 'em popping up all over the "yard", them and jujube trees. Wish I'd taken my camera with me when I...

    Growing In Tha Tropics

Only bug prob I have is grasshoppers. They girdle the branches and you get "samples" dry on the vine. It sux. Rain/humidity is not a problem. If we get ANY, it's a blessing. 20in prec/yr average. I very much prefer fall harvest. Those buds I'm showing are on plants that are 14wk old! My...

    Avocado Seeds in Water

Hi all, Is there a possibility that the avo wasn't mature enough for the seed to sprout. FWIW...I have had some pits that would not sprout, too. Just keep trying. Eventually, one will pop for you. Oh oh...another "When I lived in HI" story... You didn't want to wander the avo forests w/o a...

    Growing In Tha Tropics

Bagseed Mexican and aside from a size difference, our plants look pretty similar. The fan leaves on the plant this bud came from are green breaking purple. The sacrificial plant 's leaves turned black a long time ago. Healthy, fleshy and black. Mugans are coming nice. I have some the same age...

What is going to happen to my plant, is it going to be okay? 8 month life span

you got it....it will grow [assuming all goes well] until day/night cycle triggers bloom. I have some that will be 10-11 months old by the time I get to cut them. Be patient and if size is going be a problem, start remedial action EARLY....LST, topping, etc.

We have that tobacco growing wild....in the yard. There is a tree tobacco with yellow flowers and is perennial, too. I think it is an introduced or invading species. a word of caution about Mammoth Sunflowers....had some a few years back. Got 12 feet tall and bloomed, hooking themselves on the...

    Growing In Tha Tropics

Here ya go. Think I need to cut the rest of it...pretty ripe and don't know how much longer I can go with commercial Mex when I'm looking at/tasting this. This one is going to get a reveg and with a decent season, should be very good. This plant is only about 3 1/2 months old...and hardly...

    Growing In Tha Tropics

Not much to show. Hardly enough to call a "harvest". A handful, maybe. More like a tease. The one I featured, in most of my photos, got 1 bud cut. Two days in to the dry/cure, it smells like sweet watermelon. Still to fresh to smoke. The stem hasn't dried..it's still plump, and it will be a...

The e mail thing is what bothers me. Post count don't mean chit, to me. That one I cut is getting a bit of flavor, beyond lawn clippings, as it slow dries. I may cut the other 2 due to a bit a cold predicted. Snow is predicted for Sun night/Mon morning... We had a cold snap last year, too...

    AZ gardeners, advice please

dependong on your elevation, most peppers don't have time to mature when you direct seed. I live at ~4000ft and it gets too cold too soon for a harvest. Bell peppers will over winter, if they don't get frozen....hint, hint. Haven't tried green chiles or jalapenos. I do grow chlie piquins and...

Outdoor Question: In ground vs pots

IMHO... in the ground and amend the soil if needed. I'm not going to suggest particular amendments because I don't know what you have to start with. Sorry. compost is always good. If you are doing a guerrilla grow, look for indicator species for soil clues. Nettle, pigweed are good signs...they...

Bob is mad and angry. I was antagonizing him. We have a mutually assured destruction pact. No hazel nuts here...probably mesquites you saw...but, there are 5000 acres of pecans about 40 miles from here, though.

    kitty's flower garden part 2

Hi Kitty, Can't say I've seen much sedum. We have some nice perennial wild flowers, like the Evening Primrose. I'll have to assemble my wildflower photos, they're scattered throughout my pix.... Since you seem to enjoy felines... This is Bob "the pet alligator".
