    kitty's flower garden part 2

More pix of wildflowers coming... Have tentative plans to show Dr. Amber my neighborhood Saturday. Ghost towns, lakes, serious hill country [manzanita/oak/juniper elevations ~4000ft]....the "short" way to the one lake is 25 miles-takes 2 hr, if you are going too fast. And half of that is...

when buying plants from a store

I would hope so. Most nurserymen will know. Don't hesitate to ask. If they don't have 'em this year, they might remember someone asking for them next.... Try farmer's markets, too....like in Amish country.

    kitty's flower garden part 2

Hi all, I've been scavenging organic material for the garden and came across a pile of natural charcoal [not completely burned wood]. Anyone use it in their garden? I know it needs to be broken up, as it's in fairly large chunks. Pea size at the large end should be good, no? A little gets in the...

    Growing Orchids

An orchid section would be cool... but, the ones I have are stupid easy...for me. No work. Just don't overwater. I'm kind of surprised they're doing as well as they are considering our remarkable lack of humidity. Kitty, My phal has 8 buds so far. They're just beginning to swell. It's gonna be...

The new and improved PIX OF SPRING THREAD.

Good point. Now back to gardening after I derailed... I hand pollinated the amaryllis two years ago and got some viable seed. I tossed the seed in with momma and they sprouted. There are a couple that made it this far. I need to transplant/divide it before it splits the pot. The babies will...

The new and improved PIX OF SPRING THREAD.

That's the idea...get it done and get paid it for by the person doing the work for you. These people pay dues to the spa/gym to work out...why not with a shovel? And we make hem feel like they've done a great service to the environment. Like getting them to pay for the privilege of planting some...

The new and improved PIX OF SPRING THREAD.

Hi all, Whilst "turning" some virgin ground for a couple of tomatoes, I had an idea/thought. People pay good money to go to the "gym" for the purpose of working almost as hard as I am....still following? We could set up an "Organic Health Spa/Gym" and get them to pay us to do our hard yakka in...

The only problem with saving those seeds is they're mostly hybrids and won't hold "true". Look for heirlooms and you'll be good. They should be "highlighted" in some manner.

Nothin flash...MG Liquid Houseplant Food at 20 drops/gal, every watering. Mist the foliage, too. Same mix. Was recommended by a grower in HI. According to her,"Most orchid food has to much N, this is more balanced."

    kitty's flower garden part 2

Hi all, Well the freeze didn't do as much damage as it could have. Lilacs kept their buds. pear is still blooming, a few things took gas. The pomegranate for one. The holly didn't handle it, either. That was a surprise to me. I've got to take the camera out with me the next woodcutting trip...
