Scientific proof that a ghetto (baking soda &vinegar) CO2 generator is pointless

Shit, I love chemistry even though I don't understand most of it. I've always been skeptical as to how effective a DIY CO2 generator is. +rep.

Correctly Using and Maintaining an electronic pH meter?

Got the same meter and I love it. Works great and is a lot better than dealing with drops or strips. Keep your pH around 6.5 when dealing with soil.

DirtBaggers, Good Soil or Good Nutes????

You can grow weed without soil but not without nutrients so the answer is kind of a no-brainer.

    first time hydro, overwatering symtoms?

I've got the same configuration with two 5 gallon buckets. The pump doesn't push much air but the bubbles are sufficient for my plants. I would try lowering the water level like I suggested to about 1-2 inches BELOW the net pots. Let the popping of the bubbles feed the roots dangling in the...

t5 closet to 1kw tent, thoughts?

I must have read it wrong. I think I read the ft^2 as ft^3. Either way, its irrelevant since you have figured out that it isn't enough light in that space. Why not two 1000's? Two 600's would work well in that space but two 1000's would work even better, IMO.

    first time hydro, overwatering symtoms?

Drop the water level below the pots and let the roots dangle into the water. Overwatering isn't possible but you may see similar symptoms if you don't have enough oxygen going to the roots. How big is your pump?

t5 closet to 1kw tent, thoughts?

The lumens/watts is irrelevant...the footprint and light output from one 1000w bulb in that HUGE tent isn't enough. It could light maybe half the tent with a good reflector but the footprint is much smaller than you think. And your logic is assuming light output is consistent at any distance...

t5 closet to 1kw tent, thoughts?

Yeah, that tent is too large for a single 1000w. I'd opt for a smaller tent or more lights. And a TDS meter is completely unnecessary growing in soil. A pH meter is always handy to have, though.

glass cover on air cooled 600 hps

It may cause a negligible loss but the closer distance you can bring the light to the tops of the plants will easily cancel that out. Keep it clean and it won't even make a difference.

    DNA labs, friend or foe

I've got a freebie LA woman several weeks into veg. She's one tough hearty bitch and looks great after all she's been through. I've heard great things so I hope she doesn't disappoint. Either way, the seed was free. I'm pretty sure the G13 TSS seeds aren't feminized, just regular seeds...

Which way should I face my light?

I think in pics 3&4 the light is spread around the tent more efficiently, so that configuration gets my vote.

Going Big: New Year, New Grow! 600w DWC tent

I'm very excited as well. With the new light, transition to hydro, and (knock on wood) rediculous health of the plants, this will be completely worth the effort. About damn time you got going. With the time spent waiting, you could have completed a grow already. Keep me updated with what you...

    RO system necessary for hydroponics?

An RO system would be nice but I don't really see the need in my case. The plants do fine with straight tap water with no sitting out. If I lived in an area with bad tap water, I'd invest in an RO system for sure but since the tap source here comes out at 80ppm, it isn't really necessary.

    ph

Yep, checking the pH is the last thing I do before giving the nute solution to the plants.

    Veg room...? M.h. -or- h.p.s.....

I agree, but in this case it is. 60k vs 90k lumens is a pretty big difference. I'd really like to see some side to side comparisons between the two because I find it hard to believe that a bluer spectrum can make up for the 30k lumen deficiency.
