Multichip LED, Remote Phosphor - Guess who it is.

Pico: Pretty sure I've heard about a guy cultivating aerobic microorganisms in his high pressure aero system. I agree with what Hilo said, you just need a crazy amount of oxygen to get the right kind of bacteria. You're sort of walking a fine line between beneficial bacteria and slime. A lot of...

Oh, cool. Didn't even know. So that means maybe the treatment is working. Haven't even started with the teas, there's actually a girl in the bubble cloner which is going to double as my tea brewer. I have Aloe Vera juice. Should I dilute some and spray the girl who's sticking her leaves up?

Vornado Flippi - Viable circulatory fan for small tent?

That little circular one in the middle pushes just as much air as the Flippi V6's, was like $5.50 at Target on clearance (same as the Flippi, actually, for about twice as much if I recall), but it pushes air in a wider spread. The Vornado's have a spiral plastic fan guard on the front that spins...

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. Not much smell, the bag is just open in my room. I turn/mix it a couple times a day. It gets warm underneath the bag after it's been sitting for a while. I took a pair of scissors and tried to mulch a lot of the bigger stems down, and the leaves and stuff. The bag is...

    Astir Grow Led Panel Project...

Quick update on the Yuji LED's. I asked about pricing, CCT, CRI, and R9 values of their 1W Blue pump Warm White LED's. For Blue pump Warm White's they can achieve a CRI of >90 and an R9 value of 60-70 @ $0.68/unit for 50 units. R9 value for their Blue pump LED's is not as good as the Violet...

You mean if I seal the ziplock bag?

Multichip LED, Remote Phosphor - Guess who it is.

Hilo: No apologies, I'm glad you posted. Your thoughts pretty much match my own at the moment. Some one recommended pH strips to test soil run off earlier in this thread. I thought about and considered it/a pH meter, but have since decided that if I'm making teas and have a good soil...

Must spread rep around. :/ I literally have like three pounds of dolomitic lime. I thought that raised pH? I recently started watering with inoculant powder and I guess I can add some lime to their next watering. Hopefully we can nip this leaf curl in the bud.

Yeah... that gpw is pretty trash. I couldn't have smoked more than 5-10g of popcorn, there's no way around that number. My perpetual grow will be using sliced open 2-Liter bottles as pots so not a whole lot of soil there, plants should top out around 2' I'm guessing, if that. Just gotta keep the...

37.78g with 200W --- .19g/W Not exactly hitting the mark. Hopefully my next three harvests with add up better. First wave of perpetual flower. I've got a few clones going in veg that will be bumped into flower once they look ready.

    Bridgelux Vero 29 LED Test

Yes, that would work very well. It might actually be overkill, I'm dissipating 100W on a slightly more economical CPU cooler.

Agreed. Reflectors for the Vero 18 are all narrow as well. The largest one I can find is 46 degrees, I think they're meant for down lighting. That doesn't sound half bad, though. The Vero 18 is ~30W, comes in a 95 CRI Warm White, and I think it's basically the Decor plot line in their SPD graphs.

Could you laminate the star with a White reflective adhesive and then place the secondary reflectors on top? Would this help at all?

Treat them like Neutral or Cool White's. Use sparingly in flower, imo, I think the Blue output on Pink/Purple LED's can and tends to be a little high for our purposes. I actually wonder if they could bleach a plant if kept too close. That said, some Blue plus Deep Red sounds really good for veg...

    Astir Grow Led Panel Project...

Sorry, off the top of my head I don't know of a high quality source for Warm White LED's that are compatible with the Astir mcpcb. If I'm not mistaken, Yuji does make high CRI, Blue pump LED's that should fit. That being said, low CCT, high CRI and high lumen/Watt don't usually all coincide...

DIY LED grow light help wanted

Yes. I would sooner accept a flat piece of glass over the end of the reflector to protect the dice (from being scraped off the board, high humidity, stray water splashes, dirt accumulation, etc.) than a glass lens used to control the beam angle. The lens would just have to be far too thick (in...

    Astir Grow Led Panel Project...

Yes, 23% is not the best. I think there are 640nm-660nm high power LED's that are ~30% efficient. When they get back from holiday I should ask them what the efficiency of their 5200K, 0.4W LED's are. I'd imagine they'd be better than the 3000K and then you could supplement with some nicely...

You mentioned a glass lens over multiple LED's. This means the lens will have to be very large, and thick glass. Your losses will far outweigh any benefit. The way I see it is if you want the light more intense, move the panel closer to your panels. It has to do with diode spacing and panel...

JohnNeedsMeds: Secondary optics should be avoided if possible, imo. You'll get me to say yes to the reflectors sooner than the glass lenses, though. Still, 3W diodes packed that closely together will easily be enough light to flower plants. I don't quite see the need for secondary optics...

Those are all CPU coolers being sold as LED multichip heat sinks, some of which are insanely overpriced. You could even use a liquid cooled CPU cooler if you wanted. No idea how many Watts that would dissipate. 300W multichips are larger than your average multichip, though, aren't they? No idea...
