a general way to tell is when 60-100% of the white hairs have turned brown/orange. it's not 100% acurate, but if you can't see the trichs then this way will help you judge.

There really isn't any need to give autoflowering plants 12/12 of light. I always give mine 20/4 throughout their life and have had great results.
