I use a 5 gallon but I think 3 gallon might be more standard. Maybe could get away with a 1 gallon min but only if it was a fast flowering auto imo

Idt it would hinder it all that much imo. Your yield will probably be a bit smaller but it's an auto, the difference will be insignificant in the grand scheme of things. So I say if you don't care, go for it
