So Today was a full rez drain and refill with bloom A&B rather than Veg A&B. Need to put them onto a 12/12 light cycle now but im undecided when to start it... I'm thinking 8pm - 8am 'daytime'

So a busy day today... I asked on the Hydro section about one plant just 'self flowering' on a 18/6 light schedule whilst the other was just vegging along... Someone suggested that that one is an Auto seed that got mixed up with the a photo seed batch, and I can't think of any better...

Funnily enough I was wondering that...I cant think of a better reason, lol Working on that logic, I suppose I better flip to 12/12 ASAP to give the other chance to catch up ?

I prefer to use EC as a measurement, as there are a few different ways (2 main ways) of calculating PPM, so it depends on what tool you are using to take the reading.

One thing I have learned on this my second DWC grow, is that plastic net pots are disposable items... the larger roots will get fat and just bust through them and snap them once the plants get big. :mrgreen:

Both plants have really exploded in size last week or so though, after some sort of dormant phase.

You might be ok with the branch snap, but it's hard to say..i've taped up snaps before and they recovered, although not quite as bad a snap as that.. Although not as vigarous as the non-traumatized branches! Time will tell.

Yeah... is your water level dropping or stable? if so, I'd just add some fresh water top-up for now, and re-measure everything in 24hrs time... I wouldn't give them any more feed right now.

I'm quite lucky in having good tap water, ph is close to 7 and EC 0, to 0.1 so I don't bother. I'd say it depends on how good/bad your tap water is.

Unless anyone else chimes in, id back off on the feed, you say you were using 25%, back it off to about 12% and see how you go. Once the roots are touching the water, you don't need the cups/net pots under water, the roots will grow and find the water on thier own - thay may have too much water...

I'm just guessing here but your feed might be a bit too hot... I only measure in EC (ms/cm), and if i've got the conversion correct, that gives you an EC of 0.5, which whilst not crazy, might be a bit too much for such small plants in DWC. What are you feeding them on? Also I'm not an expert...

I use the return hose from my water chiller like a little waterfall for extra oxgenation, plus it serves as a great indicator that the chiller 'circuit' has a blocked filter or struggling pump, if the waterfall slows down too much...

It looks crazy, but it's actualy quite easy as long as you have good oxgenation, and keep an eye on the PH and EC...the the water stays really stable. Keeping the temperature of the water around 18-19c is critical, or you will get funky stuff growing. It's what I would call a 'sterile grow'...
