It's the length of uninterrupted darkness that matters (as opposed to amount of light/day). Not a good idea to allow any light to interrupt the dark period while flowering.

Go for it. Most plants adapt to their environments pretty well as I'm sure you know from vegetable farming. Cannabis tends to be adaptable even compared to most plants so if you generally know what you are doing and things aren't TOO extreme from ideal, it'll probably do fine.

Haha, I was going to say transpiration is pretty important too. Plant needs leaves to transpire water. No leaves, no transpiration... and not much need to water the roots.

Thanks for the mini-tutorial Serpentz. After I saw the computer case and you said chiller, I looked over at my PC and the water cooling system in it and the cogs started turning. A lot of parts for computers and cases (including a case itself) seems perfect for a DIY water chiller system...

They are handy to have - I like them more than using something like a storage bin. I used the 3.5 gallon buckets for cloning as well.
