He doesn't grow start to finish in party cups, he transplants. The plant in the pic isnt overly big for coco, something else is definitely going on here.

It's funny I always had bad results with canna but I was using aqua in soilless mix...simple 2 parts like DNF always worked better for me. Trying megacrop now, so far it's great!

You could chuck a water pump in there on 24/7 just to keep things stirring. Even better if you can make it waterfall a bit to oxygenate the water.
