i planted a patch of westcoast seeds' "pollinator blend" and "bee blend" last year in hopes of encouraging the honeybees, but the damn rabbits ate everything before it had a chance to bud.... this year: e fence. hopefully. i loooooooove those flutterbys - we only get white ones and monarchs...

i'm pulling a chair up for this one -- lilies are some of my favourites; it would be cool to see them in water-culture. only ever grown them in dirt though, in containers to boot, so i don't know how much insight/help i can offer. ;) i know they love the same bloom food as my other girls...

that's the "grandiflora fruit" right? do you know if it needs cross-pollination for that? because i have literally never seen one up here. speaking of gardenias...... i brought one home the other day and it doesn't want to flower...... it had dozens of buds but instead of opening, they just pop...

YES!! soooo gorgeous..... something about white flowers that smell pretty makes my brain just blank out (in a good way). ;) hence the gardenia and mock orange collection, i guess. <-- so far, 2 of each. that picture's making me realise though..... they're kinda like mutant gardenias on steroids...

i love it; it's all over the bc interior. it's weird.... as a west coast kid i watched the local forests gradually succumb to the pine beetle epidemic, which was disheartening but also not really that different (only in a browner, more shrivelly sort of way), but i actually find the senscence...
