You aren't taking into account photon transmission. Higher PPFD will transmit more photons into the mid-lower canopy. This will increase photosynthesis over a low PPFD situation, even if DLI is matched.

Sorry, I meant ol' traditional HPS spectrum, which without being aircooled, hardly emit any UV at all. Let alone with glass in the way. People been growing crazy frosty bud with old school tech for awhile now. And I'm pretty sure nobody in their right mind is cooling their T5 Fixtures or CFL's...

I completely disagree, as COB's have grown some of the frostiest bud I've ever seen while completely lacking in UV. Trichome production is a secondary metabolite function of the plant and relates to health. UV is not necessary to achieve this. Explain how jacketed Bulbs in air-cooled hoods...
