Did I fry my fans by wiring them backwards?

The LPV-20-12 costs $10 runs 6 fans great, I already have one light running with pretty much the exact same build and it works great, I am not sure why I would want to build it with a different power supply, I don't really see an advantage. The only reason the build did not work is because I was...

Did I fry my fans by wiring them backwards?

If you must know, I made a really stupid mistake. I wired the fans together into two groups of three and then ran wire from them to the power supply, which was not color coded, but I did mark it with black electrical tape to keep track... yet I still some how mixed up my black and red... it is...

Did I fry my fans by wiring them backwards?

Yes, I figured it was the electronic controller for the fans that would be fried not the fans them selves, that is why I was asking if there was a way to reset them. I had also considered if it would be possible to bypass/remove the electronics and just wire the fans directly to the power supply.

Did I fry my fans by wiring them backwards?

I guess the question speaks for its self. I wired my Arctic 11 plus fans in backwards, the power was only on for a small amount of time, after rewiring it correctly they are still not working. I am getting power out of the driver to them, but its no go. Are they fried? Do they need to be reset...

How to mount Vero 29s without screws?

Thank you so much Supra! You said exactly what I was thinking: "The only thing that will allow the COB to come off the heatsink is if air gets underneath, breaking the vacuum created by the paste" I was concerned that when it got hot the thermal paste might become thinner, but as you say it...

How to mount Vero 29s without screws?

I have already mounted 9 of the Vero 29s, I can do it, its just the most shitty time consuming part of the process. Simple fact is I will just have to suck it up and use screws again this time around again. I was deluding my self into thinking there might be a different easy solution.

How to mount Vero 29s without screws?

I saw something around here about Kapton tape being used? Not using screws would make the whole process way faster and simpler. The main concern is getting enough compression on the COB to evenly spread out the thermal paste for good conductivity. Thoughts?

Have we looked at clever ways to hang yet? (and/or side lighting)

I have been thinking about something like you guys are discussing here for a long time. The biggest issue I run into when thinking about it is the most effective way to deal with the wires involved. I have been thinking the best method is likely to mount the individual power supplies in an...

My Simple DIY Vero 29 Veg to Grow

Honestly... My Lady is in charge of feeding nutrients and the like for the plants, so I cant tell you exactly what style, I am in charge of the technology :) The Diesel will just be flowered straight, nothing fancy, just staying there in that pot until its done, no pruning really because its an...

My Simple DIY Vero 29 Veg to Grow

I was inspired by Dimebagor to post, on one of the other DIY threads. Here is my not so fancy DIY LED grow This is the light using 6 Vero 29 4000k, mounted on arctic 11 heat sinks, powered by Meanwell LPF-90-42, all the fans are running off Meanwell LPV-20-12 and that is wired into two power...

COB choice for small space DIY

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

They are Vero 29, 4000k, I thought this would be a good compromise for starts/veg. I was a bit behind on the light so it went over some very leggy starts, as such it is way above the plants at the time being, like 6 feet. As you can see in the picture, they were pretty sad little starts....And...

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

The drivers are Meanwell LPF-90-42, I should have mounted them with a bit more space between them, but they don't don't seem to be going over 145 degrees. The LED COBs seem to stay around 100 degrees, or 15-20 above ambient.

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

It is in a bathroom at the time being... It make sense, already has a vent fan, small space, water, drain, all white... Perfect for starts and veg! I was able to do it without a drill press! but a drill press would have made it all a lot easier. I marked the location for the holes, pre-drilled...

    Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

I have six Vero29 mounted on the arctic alpine 11 running at 2.1 amps and they seem to be working fantastically. They are starting/Vegging a bunch of plants in a 8 by 4 space. The temp goes up about 1 degree per hour, and I would add that active cooling helps circulate the air in the grow space...

    light distance question

I don't recall the plant used, you can read the information for your self, it has a bunch of other stuff about LEDs as well. https://ag.arizona.edu/ceac/sites/ag.arizona.edu.ceac/files/10 R. Hernandez Plant Lighting.pdf You say the light will bounce in the wrong direction, however, with only...

    light distance question

I was asking this same question yesterday, because I came across some information about green houses from Arizona State University talking about diffusive glass or clear glass. The clear glass performed worse then the glass that defused the light, because if you think about the natural light, a...
