OK, hit a major problem tonight.
I checked all my seedlings, and every one of them has all these whitey/yellow dots starting to form over the leaves. It looks a lot like nutrient burn. In fact im certain it is. Its too small to take a photo of.
The problem is I have never been able to find a good potting mix. I can't find Fox Farm anywhere around here, or anything similar. I've done two soil grows in total, including this one, and each time the potting mix I've used has been too nutrient rich. I've done it again.
I tried a different brand potting mix this time which was organic based and from what I could understand on the label, it contained only low amounts of nutrients. It was formed from compost and it said it was well suited to growing herbs and vegetables. I mixed it with 25% perlite and 25% vermiculite.
Anyway every one of my plants have nutrient burn and need rescuing or it will get worse. And I still have damn 10 bags of this potitng mix that I haven't used yet.
So I've gone back to what I know. Hydroponics. I only have 1 hydro grow under my belt but suprisingly I did much better with hydro than these latest soil grows. Here is a pic from my hydro grow:
Tonight I transplanted all of my seedlings, and also my mother, into a rockwool/hydrotron mix.
I'm not going to bother setting up pumps and reservoirs etc for this grow, because this time im using Rockwool mixed in with the hydrotron so it will hold moisture very well. I will water manually, but I'll only have to do it once every 4 days or so during veg, and once every 2 days during flowering. I've got some Canna hydro nutes left over from last grow that im going to use.
Here are some pics in their new pots
See how sick the mother looks? Thats where the seedlings were headed if I didn't save them from that soil. Too many nutrients she couldn't handle. I don't know if the mother is going to recover or not, she's pretty messed up, and it was a big transplant (roots EVERYWHERE).
Im a bit pissed off but what can you do? Its all part of learning I guess. So my grow is now hydro.
