Cannatrol vs. Freeze Dryer

I have my cannatrol now for two weeks and ran my first dry and cure threw it works great. The bud has alot of flavour and is just better tasting than my hanged bud and cured in mason jars.
Oh NO... you might have flat spotted your nugs. How are they even smokable?:D:D Pretty cool piece of tech. But you know, we got hosed because a guy with a cardboard box and a computer fan gets the same results..:wall:

Thanks for the feedback old cro.
What is the room temp your unit is in?
Think that is my only reason for hesitation at this point.
I don’t mind flat spots, keeps them from rolling away.

Nothing for sale all personal so dont care about bag appeal. I could rotate buds everyday and not have the flat side but i dont care i smoke the bud not the looks !!!! I have my cannatrol set up in my basement temp runs between 68-72 F and works well only work is dumping a small drip tray twice a day during dry cycle. I think it was a good investment for me anyway.

I clipped my first plant yesterday, after wet trimming I put my buds in the Cool Cure.

It's hard to see in this pic but the closer plant (topped 3 times for 8 colas) is weeks riper than the other 3 plants in the tent.

The rough harvest before wet trimming:

.

After trimming there was 2 x 12" trays of bud, slightly rounded. The first tray was 380 grams and the second 355 grams for a total of 735 grams. I'll probably loose 550 - 500 grams of water in 4 days.

.

This one plant took up 5 1/2 trays of bud, well under the 1000 grams recommended by Cannatrol.

.

I'll post again when it's time to weigh the buds.

One thing I did with the wet trim is to get rid of the nearly 1000 grams of trim and sticks, letting me dry/cure just the buds, and more of them.

What's the electrical draw on that setup?
"
How much power does the Cannatrol Cool Cure draw?

70 Watts. The unit does not require any special connections and can be plugged into any 3 prong outlet.
The Cool Cure will work on all voltages and the electrical plug is designed for a US outlet. An adapter will be needed in order to use an international outlet."

I wonder after a few days it may be a good idea to get the buds a bit closer together?

Thanks for sharing your experience hobbes I always appreciate the knowledge you share. Keep up the great work man!

How do we dry the bud a little more than is produced using the factory presets?

My bud right out of the Cool Cure gums up my grinders and seems a little wet - I dry in my stainless steel cans to 62% RH, which according to my new moisture meter is around 12% water. My colas in the CC are about 13% water.

Anyone know which presets to change?

The answer to my above question is to drop the Dew Point by 0.5 degrees, check after a day, adjust if necessary.

What's the difference in a CANNATROL and a Wine/ cigar fridge? I'm definitely wanting a cannatrol maybe 2. I'm just wondering how the 2 products function differently?

The wine cooler is just a fridge, it just controls temperature.

The Cool Cure by Cannatrol controls temp, dew point, and I think vapour pressure though I'm not sure.

Does anyone know how they control Dew Point?

My next question is why would a person get 2 cannatrols for 3200$ with a 5lb wet cure vs a medium harvest right that can do 10lbs for 2600$. I understand that boveda 62% packs must be added to the final product when freeze dried.
Cannatrol=8 day cure minimum
Harvest right freeze dryer=24hr/48cure minimal

Other than moisture content not to you preference, what do you think?
Overall good finished product and works to your liking? or any reservations or surprises in operation you would have liked to have known? How does the finished flower compare to previous methods?

I love it.

Tossing your bud in the cooler and forgetting about it is very comforting. With a slight change in dew point the bud is dry enough for my grinder.

Very professional product, well made, attractive.

I've got no reservations about buying it and plan on picking up a second Cool Cure before my next harvest. I like it that much.

I'm vaping my first set of Volcano bags now, after lowering the dew point by 0.5 degrees F. The first thing I notice is how smooth the vapour is, easy to hold it in the lungs. The second thing I noticed is that I harvested a week or two early, a nice relaxing stone but not a slap in the face effect yet. I chopped at 10 weeks and I still have two in flower in their 13th week. hopefully I'll get a more powerful high from them. Super Lemon Haze.

Thanks, I knew I should have pulled the trigger in the beginning when the wait was 2 weeks and not 6. That’s what overthinking gets you boys and girls, lol.
