Whats yor favourite potting mix? i heard musgroom compost is good. Mine have slowed down a lot in winter here and i dont know if it the coco peat mix or colder temps or led, thinking of trying 50/50 mushroom compost and normal potting mix
I love Mushroom mulch because it is so cheap. I pay $15 a scoop {truck load}. But my adult pepper mix is as follows.

5 gal mushroom compost
5 gal cotton compost {this is new to the mix. Just found it this summer}
2 1/2 gal chicken manure compost
5 gal cow manure compost
5 gal peat moss
5 gal cheap potting soil
5 gal good potting soil
5 gal kitty litter {heavy as hell, but the clay really helps I think}
20 cups coffee grounds
8 cups perlite
1 cup vermiculite
4 cups lime
2 cups Epson salts
1 cup each of four organic and two non-organic time release fertilizers.

The yellow one has more of a bell pepper look than anything while the green one does have the jalepeno look about it
If you leave it on the bush longer the green one will turn red if it is a jalepeno more than likely mate
I was going to say yellow habenero first but im thinking bell pepper

The green is a sorano. Those yellow ones aren't bells. They're uniform and plenty spicy.

My Serrano's are ready. I need to make some pepper sauce out of them and the few Cayenne I'm getting. A couple of the plants in the 2nd pepper patch are putting on fruit already, and one of them is a Cayenne. But my best Serrano is to the right of this picture. {couldn't find a closeup}

Yesterday the wife made me a Thai Cucumber salad to bring to work. She used our Armenian cucumbers and Jalapenos. But all the peppers were green and she wanted a little red in there to make it look better. She just grabbed a red pepper at random, and later on when I tasted the salad, I found out she had grabbed one of the BIL's Ghost peppers. I had to eat the salad a couple three bites at a time, then cool off for a few minutes. It was good though.

oh hell ...ghost is one of the ones that's kicked my arse hard,i put a teaspoon of ghost powder in a tin of baked beans once when drunk..i was burning for an hour after

How do they produce ? I've got a good sized bush but no fruits yet.
i think it varies woot...most times the first season I have a plant if its in a pot it doesn't do much but then second season put in ground or a bigger pot it will produce heaps..my ghost x scorpion give me maybe 3 chillis last year then the second year this year I put it in the ground and im guessing ive pulled nearly 3 kilos of awesome fruit of it.
the only first year ones that produce well for me would be cayenne,jalepeno etc
I always like to add ne plants to the stable be it seeds or shop brought ones each year then I got a bit of different aged chilli plants each year kinda perpetual style

Maybe I'll throw up a cold frame on my boxes. Maybe that'll keep them going.

My BIL sent me 10-12 of them, and he doesn't have very many plants. Our work schedules don't mesh up, so I don't see his garden very often, but when I was lost over there, his plants were full of pepper. Most of his plants are around knee high.
Mine is one of the biggest Pepper plants in my garden and is 3 foot tall.

Sadly, most of my plants have died. I decided to go visit Washington state to see a buddy of mine from the Army. I left for seven days and had my girlfriend tend my plants. She has a black thumb, actively killed plants even when She tried to do good. Mostly over watering, though some of then went with complete neglect in 95°+ dry heat days. Just crisped them. I had some habaneros that were luckily under the intermittent shade of a large honeysuckle that saved them. I was so upset i haven't gotten around to planting more. I suppose i could harvest a little something before the end of the year if i got things going now. My daughter saw jack be little pumpkin seeds last week and got so excited i had to buy them for her. They are doing good thus far. Thankfully, the chile is so abundant here if i miss this season i won't miss out completely, just have to miss the taste and pleasure of it coming from my backyard. And remember if you or your lady would like seeds anytime, let me know ill send some over. Green Chile's can get pretty hot

Sorry to hear about your plants. My pepper sprouts all got fried with the hot dry weather. In the little trays they have to be watered everyday, and I missed a couple of days. But I'm making way more pepper than I'm using already. It's just that the wife wanted more bells, mini sweets and Jalapenos. There are a few peppers on my 2nd patch now. So soon I will know what I've got. {I really need to get better plant labels}
