Day 2 drying (36 hours)

RH was 60% this morn, temp at 76. I cracked the closet door, RH dropped back down to 53%. I will stick with this approach for a few days.

Buds are starting to feel a little dry on outside.

Day 2 drying (48 hours)

RH was 42% this evening when I got home. Opened the bedroom window b/c it's 72% humidity outside today. I'll let the room/tent/closet get back up to 55% then close the window.

With the A/C running during the day, this will be something i'm dealing with every day the next week while this is drying. I'm probably going to put a small humidifier in the closet. 40% is too low of RH for drying, it will dry way to fast and taste like shit. I'm not going to run the humidifier all day, but i'll probably run it from 4AM-10AM to raise the RH for the rest of the day when the A/C is on. Hopefully that will keep RH at or above 50%.

Day 3 drying (60 hours)

RH 55%. Temp 76. Still a little moist and spongy but getting dry on the outside.

Sampled a few hits from a smaller nug. Burned to white Ash and didn't taste bad, so I think that's promising.

Day 3 drying (72 hours)

RH 50%. Temp 76. All seems good. Inspected most of the buds for any sign of mold/mildew. Nothing unusual.

Will weigh everything again tomorrow (Day 4). Then i'll weigh again Tuesday (Day 7) before jarring. I'll post results for both as well as some pics. Here's a pic of the bowl i'm about to smoke from the small nug and the drying goodness!

Day 4 drying (84 hours)

RH 52%. Temp 76. Took everything out to inspect and do some weighing. The buds are starting to dry on the outside. The larger ones on the tray I am hanging up for another few days. The smaller popcorn went in a jar. I'll be monitoring the RH closely.

Wet weight 4 days ago was 220 grams. That number is down to 104 grams now. Just short of 4 OZ

Day 4 drying (96 hours)

RH 48%. Temp 74. For the pieces still hanging

Jar of popcorn is at 58% humidity after 10 hours closed. Opened it for a few minutes and closed it back up, it went down to 56%. It already has a nice smell to it! :hump:

The dense popcorn nug I am still sampling, I've found 2 seeds total in about 4 bowls. Hoping this holds true on the larger nugs too.

Day 5 drying (108 hours)

Slept with the window open. RH 58%. Temp 77. Some of the remaining buds may be jarred up tonight. Main cola and 2 other buds may go another 2 days before jar.

Slight issue with RH. 4 jars are as follows.

47%
50%
54%
58%

Air was running a lot this weekend so the RH was fighting to stay above 40%. I should of jarred the larger pieces up a day earlier.

Live a learn. I will continue to open jar once a day for a few weeks and then throw a 62 boveda pack in.

SMOKE UPDATE

I just burped all 4 jars. Sitting at 48-50-55-56%. They all smell good as hell. No hay smell, just sweet with a hint of skunky. I just smoked a bowl and i'm ripped! :hump: Burned nice and good. Smooth, tasted good. Popcorn nug I broke up in the grinder provided a nice amount of keif! There was 3 small black seeds in this nug. I've found as many as 19 in a nug I quick dried a week ago. Eventually I will crack into a larger bud and see how many seeds they have.

I can only imagine how this shit is going to taste and smoke in a week... a month... :clap:bongsmilie:weed::leaf::joint::hump:

I may have dodged a bullet on this one. My RH% are sitting at 50-52-56-57. I may have one jar that will fail to reach 55%, but I will just use that as my smoke stash for now.

Anyone that has followed along, read this.

Be prepared as far as your Drying area. Know your numbers before you harvest (temp and RH of drying room). I did not think about this much before harvest. I knew I was hanging it in the closet, but I wasn't aware of any of the numbers. I hit 38% RH one day and I even had temps that pushed 78 F. Both are numbers you want to avoid. Spend a week checking your numbers. Make adjustments to your drying area. Add a humidifier or maybe even a dehumidifier is needed. If your temps are above 75 or 76, I would be concerned. REALLY REALLY try to nail it down to right around 70 F and 50 RH. Some of us are on a tight budget, growing just as a hobby, just for personal use, etc. So we're not able to invest as much or even care that much about our drying conditions. But, it's a lot of work to get to harvest, it would be a real shame to lose it at the end.

Yeah I just added 2 fans for outlet and inlet so I got fresh air constantly following a dehumidifier helps to hold a good range of humidity... I know what u mean tho it’s hard to think you need to spend mote money to dry it good, after you spend so much on a setup but u kinda have to find a way to do it, I didn’t have fans and I Nearly lost my chunk lol I learnt thst lesson right then and there

RH numbers are 51-54-57-57

I'm smoking off the jar with the lowest RH. I empty the jars out and let the buds sit out for a few minutes, then put them back in.

I've always grown photos. I decided I was going to give autos a try. I ordered 6 auto seeds and got 4 free, so I have 10 total. Enough for 5 grows (x2 each grow). They did throw in 3 freebie. I believe they are Mama Mia Feminized photos.

RH was 49-52-53-55 this morning. They've all dropped below 55%, so I went ahead and threw in the 62% boveda packs. When I got home today the RH was 56-58-58-59. I'll take that and just open the jar once a day for a few weeks.

Sampled a piece of the main cola (bottom piece I had to cut off to fit in a jar). Smell is great when breaking it up. Their is ZERO taste though. It doesn't taste bad, good or anything. No flavor at all. I got a nice buzz from 2 hits.

5 days drying and 6 days in the jar. The smell is slowly getting stronger inside the jar. There is still absolutely no taste when smoking it. I guess it could be worse, it could taste horrible.

All four jars are holding steady in the 58-63 RH range. I still have one jar that doesn't have a 62% boveda pack. It still hovering around 57-58. The other 3 jars with 62% bovedas are anywhere between 58-63. I opened all 4 jars for about 5 minutes.

All four jars come in a total of 86g. I haven't been smoking much of this lately, with my GSC auto popcorn buds already smokeable.
