Here's what retired ambassador Chas Freeman has to say about our current situation vis a vis China. This is excellent analysis and shows just how incredibly damaging the current administration is to America's short AND long term interests;

“Meanwhile, Chinese nationalism answers American rhetorical kicks in the teeth by swallowing the figurative blood in its mouth and refraining from responding in kind, while sullenly plotting revenge. 君子报仇十年不长.”
Fair paper with plenty to say about both sides. But the Americans don’t appreciate how China plays the long game. If a guy comes up to you and your lady and bad mouths you while holding you up you would want blood. China is not going to forget this.
Again I will point directly at the wealthy in this country and the rest of the world regarding China. They rushed to China to escape unions or taxes or both. But China realized they had labor as their export market and wanted more security than runs of widgets at holiday season. Everything we have a bitch about was given away by the wealthy in exchange for short term wealth. Hey the living is good! We’ll deal with cleaning up after the party is over.
The wealthy profited, you saved a few cents. But now the burden is on us. All of us. The Republicans response? A huge tax cut for the very same people who directly caused this “situation”.
