Don't YOU think the prices of weed are insane?

How much do you think top quality bud should cost/oz?

I live in the uk and i grow for myself and friends, i charge £120/ounce which is about $190 US. this is a reasonable price for both sides considering my bud is absolute chronns, and is fit for kings.

your entire post was based on assumptions about me, which is also sad, because you seem to be trying to make a clear point here but it's skewed by your assumptions.

the 'arrogance' you detect isn't real, it's a misinterpretation upon yourself.
The "assumptions" I made came purely from actions displayed on this thread. Just calling what I see, not what I assume.

And really, my "entire" post? Interesting, as I only spoke to you directly in the "P.S." portion. You're not making assumptions, are you? :p

you can't compare black market prices to prices of a legalized product . . . it just DOESN'T work.
It does work. Just not the way we'd like it to work. There's the difference.

Further, you're the one who's brought up the whole "if/when it's legalized" many times. If you can compare, then so can we.

I'm not assuming it's exact price, I'm not the one trying to say it should be this or that, I am trying to say that once it's legalized the price will drop.
Sadly, no it won't. :(

well it is legal in Cali (sort of) and the prices are HIGHER!!!! than the street. Also the only way it will be legalized is with a heavy tax associated with it along with very expensive liquor license type permits...the savings will be passed along to the consumer so the industrial hemp farm can borrow $$ to buy equipment, more land to be able to make the payments, and water.

The prices will NOT go down...they NEVER do...we will be lucky if they do not go up....like prop 215 socal bud!...and quality will go down.
Took the words right outta my keyboard! ;)

LOL!

sorry buddy but that is not the definition of legalized.

that is the definition of DECRIMINALIZED.

please read a dictionary.
RE: medical marijuana, it IS legalized. That's where the term "medical marijuana law" comes into play. Have the prices for "Compassionate Care" gotten lower than the street (black market) prices? I rest my case.

Considering you live in CA, you ought to be fully aware of the state's actually being willing to consider legalizing and taxing marijuana, correct? (Even if it's "decriminalized" instead of "legalized" it'll still be sold and taxed if/when this bill is passed. Therefore, defining the "either/or" is a moot point.) Do you really believe that the prices will go down, when the only reason CA is even gracing this proposal with a glance is because the state is beyond financial desperation and the tax revenue coming from the current prices can help CA's budget? The proposed tax revenue is not based on lower prices.

I can see your logic, Poplars. I really can. But it's not the reality of the issue. Unfortunately, reality doesn't often follow logic. And as much as I can see your line of logic, it's still not the same as mine nor that of many others. Does this make either of us less logical than the other? Or does it simply mean that there are differing opinions that likely won't be changed?

uh, I dont' know what planet you're from but it's decriminalized in california under medical marijuana, NOT legalized.
I really hate repeating myself, especially when it's right there. So, here goes....

Decriminalization: n. the repeal or amendment (undoing) of statutes which made certain acts criminal, so that those acts no longer are crimes or subject to prosecution.

Any more semantics? Or are you just deflecting? :bigjoint:

And read my "location".... this is the dumbest planet I've ever visited!

if you had refreshed earlier you would have noticed that I changed my opinion entirely, within 3-5 mins of posting that.

I now believe it's an unmanaged business.

and the fact that it's a federally banned substance doesn't help either.

The free market...that guarantees fair prices through competition...just like every morning when I came to work at QuikTrip years ago, part of my job was to shop the competition for gas prices so we could stay a penny low when possible as gas was a loss leader @ $0.97/gal.

And if there is any regulation...the fox news freaks walk straight out of church to through their arms in the air screaming communism and get all misty eyed for the good ol' days of McCarthyism.

I was thinking this morning in about the story that I have heard related many times as to why communism is so bad...and it probably is (it is a system...systems fail)...anyhow the story is something like this:

Two farmers. Each has a horse. One farmer takes very good care of his horse. He plans ahead and puts away enough hay and grain for the winter (probably has a good veterinary insurance policy also). The other farmer does not take good care of his horse and for whatever reason, his horse dies....Communism being all even-stevens...The horseless farmer goes to whoever is in charge, and says it is not fair that he has no horse when his "comrade" has such a fine animal...and demands that the equalizing force of communism provide him with a horse.

Well this is a western story...and it ends with the good horse being killed to make things equal.

This is highly fallacious. Now the systems of communism combined with greed, corruption and power have not been successful historically as we all at least believe. But maybe it was because things were never actually even...and huge amounts of money had to be spent on the defense of their very ideals...and pay attention here...10 years in Afghanistan.

In actuality there probably would be someone who was really good at breeding and raising horses. As a man can only ride one horse at a time...a collection of many horses ends up being a collection of wealth or more correctly power.

Now...this is not really that cool (WWJD?). The stableman probably gets his food from the farmer...the farmer gets his horse from the stableman...the food grows with a little help from the farmer and good weather...the horses fuck so much you have to keep them separated....So no the good horse would not have been shot...the dead horse would be buried.

The other thing on the brain this morning was how we convert work to dollars in exchange for goods and services.

Like an internal combustion engine...this conversion of work to dollars is highly inefficient as often as the work is converted, others take a small portion...like the loss to heat in an engine. Why should others benefit directly or indirectly from another persons labor?

And here is the thing. If you feel as though you are well compensated for your labor...it is likely that you are overpaid (or make money by screwing others) and part of the problem.

Sorry about the oversight, but I don't make a practice of refreshing a post to see if it was edited before I post my reply already in the making. (Nor do I expect others to do this before posting replies to me.) I had the reply page open and ready to hit "post reply" but then my 12-week-old puppy came running in all shades of wild, my 2-year-old dog on her tail, both of them running circles around the living room, and the pedestal fan was knocked over with quite a crashing bang. So I got up, got the dogs outside, and cussed while my fiance was trying to fix the fan till he finally just went into the spare room and grabbed that one to replace the living room fan.

Needless to say, refreshing a reply page wasn't the first thing on my mind. I saw the page was still open a few moment later, hit the "post reply" button, and moved on. Blame it on the dogs, evil little monsters!

Unmanaged business would be much more fitting. I had an exchange with a cop who calls himself "Truth Manager" on a local newspaper's online article who, among his idiotic sweeping generalizations about MMJ users assumed by his "personal encounters on the job" with them, stated that MMJ is unregulated, to which I agreed. (The only thing he claimed to which I agreed.) It was quite amusing really, because he'd come back to jab that no one was replying to his comments anymore, but he hasn't said a single word since my response. Perhaps he didn't have a brilliant retort to my rant? I was going to post the exchange on RIU, but haven't decided if it's more fitting in the Toke-n-Talk, Legal, or Medical forum categories.

Just one portion of the exchange:

HIM: "Feeling a little down today? OK, here's your pot. What a load of B.S."

ME: "Feeling a bit down today? Here's your Prozac and Xanax. Got a headache? Take some Vicoden. Back pain? Eat some Oxycontin. Hard day at work? Down a few shots of whiskey. What a load of B.S."

Marijuana SHOULD have no value bro. It comes from the fucking ground. The only reason it does have a value, is because our slave drivers ie the government prohibited it and forced it underground. Dupont, tobacco companies, alcohol companies, and another company i cant think of the name right now are the primary reason that it is still illegal. They funded all the fucking propaganda against a fucking PLANT, that has had sacred meanings from the beginning of time. Fuck the government, fuck the new world order.
