Duch's Indoor Organic Garden's.

Hey guys. Not ready to start updating my garden yet but I do have something a bit personal to share.

I took a leap this morning and responded to an ad from a guy, around my age, looking for some semi serious musicians to put together a band.


Sick of the same old same old around town. Where are all the cool musicians? Looking to put a tight full band together and/or put an acoustic duo together to do a mix of covers and originals. Pretty much just wanna jam, have fun , gig a bit and record. Smoke some 420 and get in the zone. Looking for semi serious like minded members who want to be tight and have a blast rockin out. 30+ preferably. I have a jam space also.

I sent him a quick rundown of what I can do and he replied saying he's got pretty much everyone lined up except a solid bass player, and that they were chatting about it last night, and left his number to call him. Gotta say, I just smoked a bowl before reading that and I'm a bit nervous right now. But, I'll settle in later and give the dude a call and see how things go. This could be right up my ally. or in my "zone". lol

A few of my friends are seriousish mucitions, they used to play together and now they are in two separate bands. Seems a hard life gigging and practicing. You have to be fairly committed

Yes. It can get daunting and nerves can flare up, like any close working group of people. I'm good though. It will be a commitment of choice and not necessity. Besides, I didn't buy this gear to make my pad look pretty.

Funny how big purchases become 'room-art' as you put it. I've had some expensive crap that just sat... and I'm still young lol. Sadly my guitar and equipment is at the moment a testament to how much extra stuff I like owning. I should either start playing, or sell some of it.

Super cool about the new group. I have a feeling it will work out perfect... just don't bring up politics. Just from the sound of it, seems like it could be the perfect gig. Let's hope you guys all get along.

What'a ya trying to say Jig? lol I think it sounds good too. You know it was the 420 reference that grabbed my attention, right? Anyway, if not these guys, then others. I answered another ad where a guy looking for vocals, mostly heavier rock style. He wants to email recorded tracks to someone else to add vocals to in their home studio and send them back. Sound interesting to me too.

OK, on the menu this evening. I'm going to try my hand at Austrian Strudel (apple, raisin and cinnamon.) but first, a nice lite tomatoe sauce with a touch of Italian sausage on bowtie pasta, along side a greek salad with feta.

Ok. so time for a little update as to what is going on in my garden, which is not much but it's in gear and moving along.

This is what I came back home to from Amsterdam. They are extremely root bound and starving for nutes but not all of them will be saved. They went into flower to determine sex, in the cups, with plans to transplant them but then my trip came along and things were put off. I left them in other hands while I went away with instructions not to worry about them and just water them.



And here are the nine chosen ones. Mostly Extremas with a Hericules or two and two Deep Psychosis, one of each pheno. I was totally able to see the frost production and they smell so strong so choosing was pretty easy.







Now if that fairy would get here....

So on another topic, Some of you may remember I have a vermicomposter going. In fact I still have casting left from my harvest in the summer. Anyway, it was brought inside and sits at the top of the stairs leading up to my flat. We store things like recycling and such out there and lately we've been keeping our vegetables and things out there because it's been very cold out there due to the season. It's practically refrigerator temps and I thought that my worms had probably all died and there was still food in there, and maybe not composting anymore. Anyway, today I pulled it out to deal with it and was surprised to say the least.

This is my composter. It's basically 2 bins. One outer bin with 2 bricks at the bottom for the inner bin to sit on. The inner bin is full of holes I drilled, on the bottom and a little ways up the side.



The sprouts are from potato peels. This bin has been in total darkness in 0 to 5C average temps for over a month now.



When I pulled burlap back I saw that there was really no food except potato peels and half compost corn cobs as well as egg shell. Other than that, some twigs and roots and lots and lots of squirming worms and a whole bin full of castings, to the bottom!!! I've sifted through some of it to collect enough worms to start the next bin. You can see at 1 oclock from the twigs the corn cobs. They broke up like nothing and inside was full of casting and baby worms. Also, the abundance of worm eggs throughout the casting was crazy.



In the top two pails, I lined the bottom with shredded newspaper and some of the uncomposted debris and placed the rest of the castings from the bin on top. The idea is to harvest the castings as the top dries and the worms move down to the new food source. Bottom right dish pan is harvested and somewhat cleaned castings and bottom left is dried castings I harvested in the summer.

While I'm waiting for seed to get here I'm trying to get to making up a whole new soil batch going and cooking so it's ready for when the seedlings need it, which should be a couple of weeks after I get them in the ground, which will be as soon as they get here. In the bin is my coir, perlite and vermiclulite. In the car I have some potting soil that will get mixed in along with some castings I have left that I bought from a farm that was nicely screened and it's dry. The casting I'm harvesting I will use in teas. Also I'll be adding rock phosphate, humik granules and some Dolo lime. I'll be soaking it all in a mixture of blackstrap, kelp, EM's and Sea Crop.



Activating EM (Effective Microorganisms) motherculture through fermentation. The mix is 1:20 motherculture to water and 1:20 molasses to water. Also I've added kelp and sea crop to it to help out some more. It will be done in 2 to 3 weeks for full potential.

For a puppy update. Nero is just over 10 weeks old and he is really turning out to be a great dog.

Nero is awesoime and my girl thinks he is rather handsome. he sure is!

He's a feisty little bugger who is already less afraid of the shop vac than both of my Mastiffs ever were. But he has a real nice gentle side too. It took a while to get him to relax and get it out of him. I guess when you just get out of a litter of a dozen siblings it's hard to adjust to being an only child. Talk about crate trained. We just had to buy it. That's it. The breeder already had him used to it. We put him in it when we need to, he whines a minute and then lays down. The upside is he doesn't mind being in it and goes there a lot by himself. As you can tell, I'm very happy with this pup, so far. I really want a well rounded and socialized dog with no issues and I have a tinge of reluctance, as I do with everything important.

yea, i get the same way with dogs. i was looking at pups again today, and i know i dont need anymore.
bet the kids love him.

crates are important to the dog-it's their safe area. being wary is a good sign for a protection dog.

Ya T. Where he was raised was busy with kids and people coming in and out. There was momma and another dog as well as a cat or two. It was busy and loud at times I'm sure. Basically a typical family. We need to make sure we keep that up somehow because it's only us three adults here now. Lot's of kids next door though that haven't met him yet though. Eight of them to be exact. lol. Infant to late teens and they'll probably meet him this week.

Cof, I'm learning that about crates now. I wish we would have done this with our other boys. He definitely is wary, but also more determined to get past it, it seems.

just take it slow and gentle.
I don't allow my shepherds to be handled by anyone other than the immediate family-all 3 of us. I live in a rural area and they are used for protection-and as my son's playmates and best friends.

crate training was essential in my case, being a renter. as far as being protective or territorial with GSD's and all the mastiff's. But the pit-bulls aren't as easy to train for protection, though they can be foolishly territorial if left in the yard and never worked with.
