Hey growman. Welcome. I don't have much going on in my garden right now. A whole bunch of revegging girls and some seeds I was supposed to drop a while ago, but not to worry, I'm working on it.

I was actually doing a bunch of tidying up and such around the home and garden. All things I need to do first. Seeds going down tonight or tomorrow. Anyway, I just sat down for a break and thought I'd post the pic above. I do have to move on again. Can't sit too long, I'm on a roll.

Hey guys. Just popping in before heading to bed. Had evening classes today and I'm in at eight in the morning so 5 hrs sleep for me. I did want to share my night with you guys though. Tonight's class was Creative Design for Photography. Spoke about "The Golden Ratio" and was given the intro for our group project. It will end in a lecture presentation on a particular art movement.

My group was assigned Futurism. At first I didn't know what to think about it but after reading an intro to it, it was like it was made for me. So anti passe. lol I think a few of you guys could appreciate this stuff.

Anyway guys. Gotta hit the hay. Chat later and have a good one.

Yeah!
We miss you in the 600, but you not checking in only means that you're on to something with your studies, and Life.
So hoping things are well with you, buddy!

Hey thanks guys. It's been getting busy that's for sure. Assignments are piling up and I'm in a group project that is getting down to the wire. It's the one I mentioned above on Futurism. Gonna be a late night tonight I think. Other than that I'm loving it. Because this was a January intake it makes it an accelerated program, as we go pretty much through the summer, so come next month I'll be a year away from my 2 year diploma.

As far as my garden goes, my flowering reveg's look like shite because of my neglect. I'll still get some frosty nugs but they'll be tiny all over. My plants in veg are much healthier and will be going into flower soon. They are the Dippy Eslies [sic?]. Deep Psychosis and Kush X Caseys.

Also, I've been jamming with some guys lately. Been out 3 times now. It's basically an all original project that our lead singer has brought some stuff in from years back. The guys has a great classic rock voice. David Coverdale, Ian Gillian style. I might have some raw recording for ya's after the next get together next weekend.

Anyway, hope you guys are all good. Think about you's all the time.

Here's a couple of shots for ya's.

The assignment was Reflections. I got an 85 on this one.

This one was RGB. Red, Green or Blue. The idea was to isolate one of those colours. I got 90 for this one. Professor said I lost marks for the bit of blue/purple.

This one I got to take with a $12000 Canon 400mm lens, on my camera body. It was at one of my instructors studios at an evening get together he held for us.

Cool stuff, duchie!
Glad to hear you're doing well.
Man!
One doesn't realize how flawed the images are with our cheapo point & shoot cameras until we see what an un-distorted image looks like with proper color & tonal range that comes from a good camera (really good camera) and pro lens.
Very nice!
:-)
Knock 'em dead, brotherman!

Thanks Doobie. I'm slowly discovering that it has more to do with the lens than the body. Bodies will come and go but good glass will stay with you as you go through the upgrades in camera bodies.

I'd imagine that a $12k lens is probably down around F-1.0 or less, and nearly perfect optics.
Makes a great camera amazing.
But it's still the eye behind the viewfinder and brain controlling it all to make it all gel together like that.

You know I didn't even think to see what the aperture was on that thing. For that shot I was at f11 with full studio lighting and remote flash and the camera was set up about 20 feet away from the model. He doesn't actually own the lens. It was on loan to him from Canon.

You know you have a quality piece of optics when the company has to loan it out to institutions.
I hope you end up in a position to own one for yourself someday, whether to further a career, or just because you can afford it.

Yeah man. This school has some nice gear that I can sign out anytime. Hasselblads too! Don't start studio work til next term.

Doobie, my tight ass would have to make a considerable amount of money to spend that on a lens, even then I think I'd cringe cutting that cheque. (Oh fuck off spellcheck. That is how you spell cheque, check?!) But then again, show me the money!

YYZed forever! (I hate the spellchecker, too: how dare it presume to know what we want to write!?!?!?)
:-)

*edit:
our '05 Honda Civic cost us $11,500, and that had both of us cringing, other than we knew we'd have a solid value.

Hassies are the best... we've got two film 501cm here at the house... been itching to shoot them again, actually. I bet you guys have a nice digi at your school though... those things are d-d-d-d-ope!

Yup we do. lol. After this is done, there's a program in the bigger city that I can go to after this, for 2 years more and bet my BA. Something to consider while I'm doing this.

How's things with the family Bobo? You're little girl must be getting big. You did have a girl right?

Yeah, things are great, thanks Duch. Little thing is just growing like a weed. She's big for her age, too, which is weird, because Mom and I are both quite normal, and were as children. I threw my back out from carrying her around the other day, lol. Bambucha!

When it comes to photography, I would get to a point where you feel you've got a really good hold on the basics, and then try and find a studio or someplace where you can go work, and learn more at the same time (vs more schooling). It's all about hands on in this industry, and making connections. School is a great start for both of those things, but you don't want to be spending money forever when you don't have to. Take it from someone who knows what they're talking about in that dept. My wife's student loans are massive! She could have probably done with a year less schooling, too, but she really wanted her degree, and I wanted her to have it, so... Just something to consider.
