So did some pretty major defoliation , this time under direction of the boss. Much better results.
Turned lights off and took pic with flashlight . Just to get real color. There are sooo many heads on biggie I cant really count till i give them time to grow and see how they turn out but thinking 25 colas as is.
Little has 18, i think but shes different. Her nodes go a leaf north and south with growtips, then quarter inch stem and one leaf towards the center stalk with a grow tip. so its 5 on each side stalk and 4on the centers. I clipped the nodes i cropped and dipped them in clonex juice , basically i took half a solo cup of ro, and then took a cuetip and dipped it in clone x , and diluted it off the cutip in the cup, then used that for the cuttings. It opened lil up and lots of the tips are exposed.
Think boss is letting little catch up by giving her center stalk light while letting biggie keep her cannopy infavor of removing the lower big fans. (much much ,much easier to water now.
I was hurting my back watering and turkey basting out the runoff . Now I use a pump to put the water in and still baste it out just cause its kinda zen just chillaxin there removing the water. Probably my co2 helps them out too. Did I mention you can also get free hair cuts? lol

Little, is out of hand. She had 1 head all rolled up in a ball because of nute issues at the start. Then I topped once. Got 4 solid branches. Did nothing but listen to the boss. Waited, topped second time. Topped 4 heads. Again listened to boss, less is more tiny tiny tiny cut = topping. Let it revive a day , then took the stalk i topped down to the growthtips , which opened up the main heads to light. AND started two potential clones.
The second topping, of 4 heads yielded 20 new heads of which 2 stalled (it seems they are the utmost top two growth tips and exposed to light so i suspect removing the stalks revived the top one which will have the strongest growth. 18 Active growth tips from 4 toppings.

Oh a little trick the hippy who originally taught me years ago , go in where the fork in the stem is and gently with yer fingers spread them about half an inch and relax, and repeat like 5 times. It stresses the stem and causes them to swell a bit earlier preparing them for topping. you can see where i tit it , by where the leaf is missing. The boss is also teaching me to pinch stems to injure them but thats for later in the grow. so i will explain later.
The technique above just kinda stimulates the stem like animals and such would in nature. Everything the hippy taught me 25 years ago has proven true so i just kinda did it and didnt question it.
worth mentioning, RH steady at 50% day , i think 55% night , no longer running the humidifier .

Things you should not do. . .
1. Dont Use any equipment .... without sterilizing with bleach.
2. Dont Leave nute water in light.
3. Dont turn off ventilation off during night hours. Humidity is relative. bad things happen in top of the tent when the temp drops and the leafs transpire. Instant powdery mildews. God this was dumb , how didnt i see this coming.
4. Dont use pete pots, Solo cup, 1 gal smart pot , 10 gal smart pot.
5. Dont turn off fans at night. Same reason. Leafs transpire , they need CONSTANT airflow or puddles on leafs form any where they touch and they relax at night and touch, powdery mildews, molds, spores, bad shit happens next. Air flow is good. Really good around the soil / stem area and making leafs dance.
6. Dont use shitty hydrophobic soil , so much headaches . Just give it away and get new stuff.
7. Dont run a hydroponic setup in your bedroom. What a moronic idea this was, DWC stands for deep water culture. Its literally a perfect breeding ground for all sorts of shit you dont want bubbling all over your bedroom. Just like the bubbles when you flush the toilet send poo 18 feet away the hydro bucket will send whatever it grows 15 or 20 feet away and that is before the exhaust fan. Soil is sooo much more forgiving.
8. Dont use rockwool cubes , im pretty sure its causing ph problems still.
9. IMO Dont use a humidity dome. Boss doesnt use it , mine cost me a spore bloom , its horribly big and hard to store between uses.
10. Don't read too many books. I mean, it helps, but most are complete bullshit telling me the legit genus in the grand tree of plants and shit you just dont need to know to grow phat nugz most is contradictory too. The boss made fun of me for buying marijuana garden saver , sent me a picture of the cover with all the errors circled. Get ya someone who does it as much as you want to do it and stfu and listen and do what you are told .
11. Dont remove healthy new foliage around grow tips. Remove old shit. It worked but it stunted it and made it top weird where the apex stem stalled till the next topping. What i did to biggie was dumb and caused problems with the manifold i was making. It started growing elsewhere, then the next top , everything went back how it should have been. The apex stems are swelling and things are good. 2 weeks lost and lots of stretch. every top = stretch
12. Dont put nutes in bag soil for like 3 weeks. Its got so much shit in it you should really water it till the runoff doesnt look like diahrea the first time you water it. My experience is happy frog. But im told all bag soil is hot with nutes. %50 runoff the first time removes most of the pee based ferts , the poo based insoluble stuff takes a few weeks of watering .
13. Dont buy ph down. 2 cups muriatic acid in 2 liter with bottle water to fill it = ph down that doesnt suck cause its citric acid and evaporates. should be about a shot glass full to down .1 ofc the person who told me that is mixing 55 gals at a time i think? I havent used up the citric stuff yet so im not sure how much to down .1 in 5 gals
14. Dont buy GH tripple jugs , get the aio BLOOM and calimag, calmag+ for veg. Worry about flower. . . later.
15. Dont put cuttings in jars to save , instant mold. (leafs press in books really nice)

18. If its hot , get nice led cobs they lower temp compared to hid by 7 degrees

Oh , on a hunch after talking to the boss, I released the LST wires. So he taught me that the plant more or less can sense which arms are highest because of fluid dynamics , it has to push the fluid up. So it knows whats tallest. You can force growth to activate by restraining the apex stem. So on a hunch I released the two branches I was lst-ing and sure enough the growth tips on them surged.

Correct! You never want to leave your LST on throughout the grow. You leave it on just enough to get the shape of where you want it, then once you achieve that you can let her run free. although throughout your grow if you want to continue shaping because some times they grow a little out of hand you can always start LST again. Nice job and thinking ahead.
