First time grower using coco

I have to do something....unless my stem cracking and showing green is a good thing
Since it's that bad, I suggest you give it water only for a while. The nutes crustified your babies bad huh? Split stems can be overcome.

Can we get some pics?.....good pics? I'm telling you, you'll take better pics if you rest your arm on something.

yeah I know I need a better camera also....Funny thing is my two plants in soil are getting the same feeding and they are as happy as can be...

I'll try to get a couple of good pics with a cfl here....

Here are some better pics....one is a shot of all three but the other three are of my sickest.

hi bkstyls
i think your problem is nute burn. i'm a first time grower and i'm growing in coco too. the first 4 seedlings i planted, i nuted at about week 2 and it KILLED them. looked exactly like your plants, yellowing on older leaves, brown spots from the tips progressing in, stunted growth. so, i planted another seed, and DIDNT NUTE IT AT ALL - guess what, its FOUR TIMES bigger at week 3. at least. and looks healthy as buggery. a lot of guys on icmag.com say dont nute till week 3-4 AT ALL then bring it in gradually, i think they're right. plant a couple more seeds, dont nute, and compare - tell me what u think at week 3

Thanks man....I appreciate the insight...not a lot of coco growers here but the few guys I have found on here are great and they pretty much say the same thing you are.

Those leaves still look perky. Do just water until they show some vigor.

Those pics are better than the last. The closeup of the stem is blurry, but at least it hasn't fallen over. I think they'll be okay with water.

Thanks UserFriendly...my hygrometer says I have low humidity. I should probably invest in a small humidifier

They have a 1.6 gallon res I think. They can go for a day on the highest setting, 2 on the lowest (no shut off). If you get the cheapy, eventually you'll want to get an independent humidistat controller for it.

well I have a humidistat on my hygrometer...I should have an additional one??

I am looking at some of these one gallon humidifiers as I need as small as possible.

Go down to the neighborhood pharmacy and peep their selection. I think mine was about $30. You can just put it in front of the intake vent on the outside of the tent, so as not to take up any floorspace under the light. You don't want these under HID anyway.

Before you read this post, remember you must have pity for the newbie. I have suffered enough.

I usually keep the door closed to the bedroom that my grow closet is located in but I was taking a shower last night and I guess I left the door cracked open because when I went to check my plants it was like a murder scene. One of my dogs had gotten in there and ate one of my plants. The horror. Thank god it was only one but it was beyond salvation. It had only two ripped leaves left and the growing tip was mangled. The worst part is I don't know which dog to be mad at. The upside is Slowpoke gets a new home and when I was removing the corpse of the mangled plant it had really good root growth spread throughout the bag.

More unfortunate news in that I will look like a complete moron after you hear it. Turns out I'm no chemist because the little test tube I've been using to measure my nutes is in fact in 5 mL increments, not .5. So I've been giving my plants hot doses just like bk. Just remember as you contemplate how to ridicule me that the average joe doesn't know what a mL looks like and there was a little speck stuck on there right in front of the 5 and I was pretty stoned every time I watered my plants. Well, no more. With the plants flushed and now on a proper regimen with the light backed off, the new growth looks great. Take a look. And be gentle. I'm in mourning.
