I love KFC!!! The ones around here SUCK!! Most of the time you get your 3rd choose and they act pissed to get it for you.

I was sitting at the college cafeteria one day in my first semester of my freshman year. In walks this dressed up dude in white with a goatee. I'm like....get a load of that guy.... what's his problem? My LOCAL classmates sat aghast at my comment.... HE'S THE COLONEL!!!! He's a big deal here!!! Oh.....it was in Kentucky and I never quite realized KENTUCKY fried chicken.... locals were quite sensitive. As the year ended, the Kentucky Derby came up. Now in Lousiville, they put on a 2 week celebration before the race.... it is amazing. There is a big big amphitheatre and park right on the Ohio river called the Belvedere.

The weekend before the race, big concert....all free.... Emmy lou Harris was the main star.....but I realized that day why all the reverence for the Colonel. There he was up on stage.... the ppl went CRAZY!!!! Like a rock star he was to them!!
That entire night KFC had big wagons everywhere and all the food was FREE!!! Ahhhhh....then it all became clear to me why college kids would love him so much. Free food!! I don't remember a whole lot of details from that weekend.... it was that good! :wink:

I paid no attention to the damned asterisk. Baseball should put that thing behind Mark McGwire's steroid-tainted record.

hahaha! that is awesome.. feeding the cornfed multiple jack daniels distillery having population of kentucky! the colonel should exert some of those efforts to people without farms lolz :eyesmoke:

When Maris surpassed Babe Ruth's home run record in 1961, the regular season had eight more games than in Ruth's day. This was done to accommodate new expansion teams. As a result, the Commissioner of Baseball announced that unless the record were broken in 154 games, separate records would be listed so as to not dishonor the 'Babe.'

In reality, there was never an asterisk used in the record books relating to the single season home run record.

It's all good..... now we did have some students who were from the "hills". Again, very nice but a bit raw :wink: I did get to sample some mighty fine moonshine and bud in Kentucky tho..... sweet!


Okay big HB goes out to Arnold Palmer. I had the great pleasure to meet him one on one of his courses few years back. I was installing all of the wetland plants on his designed golf course. That guy actually had someone pull me out of the water 3 holes away so I could meet him up on the 17th hole to discuss the water lily installation and conditions. Arnie wants you...... me? Yah...... but I'm a mess! He knows....come on, get in. Arnold was so pleasant. He had a towel waiting for me, and we talked for a good ten minutes about every detail of the lilies....
At the end he said.... you're the first guy on this job that hasn't asked me for a golf tip. I don't play them Mr. Palmer, I just plant them. He got a chuckle out of it and said fair enough. The handshake was all I needed.

Today is Howard H Taft day....... because of three things.

1.) He became President (no "small" thing)

2.) He rode the water buffalo below pictured (no "small" thing)

3.) He once got completely stuck in the White House bathtub ( HE was no "small" thing)

Fiona is very good! I like this cover. Her voice at times reminds me of Janis Joplin, not perfect, but mesmerizing.
