Because i know the origin of the flag, that flag does not bother me at all.Was it used to do evil, yes it was.But does that make the symbol itself bad!! No it does not.
Of course it does. A 5th century swastika on the side of a buddhist temple is not an evil symbol. Turn it 45 degrees, place it in a white circle on a red flag and voila! Incontrovertibly racist. Words change meaning over time (negro used to be acceptable, the norm even, apparently not anymore), symbols also acquire new meanings. SOMETIMES THOSE NEW MEANINGS ARE SO POWERFUL THEY SUPERCEDE THE PREVIOUS MEANING. I'm pretty sure the swastika falls in that category.

What does the swastika mean to you?

It's all relative to the person's sensitivity and the context in which they are used. :bigjoint:
i disagree
any black person that says they dont mind being called a nigger by white are lieing
and the same for latinos and being called wetbacks or what ever

words or powerfull, people love to say words should not hurt you but the truth is they do hurt

A string walks into a bar and sits down and says "I'll have a beer".

The bartender narrows his eyes and says "didn't you see the sign? We don't serve strings here. Get lost."

The next day the string comes back into the bar and sits downs and say, "I'll have a beer". Bartender says, "now, goddammit, I told you yesterday we don't serve strings here!

String walks into the bar next day, does a weird contortion and starts scraping at itself with a razor. Then sits down at the bar and says "I'll have a beer." Bartender loses it and says aren't you that fucking string that came in here the last few days? I told you to get lost!

String looks at the bartender and says 'frayed knot'.

Let me guess that you are also under the delusion that 90% of the south fought for the 10% that owned slaves. If so then i really feel sorry for you.Peace and have a nice day.

yep. unless you have inner issues.
One inner issue would be not wanting to be called a name that is universally considered impolite, not a compliment, aggressive, hateful.

Words are what all social interactions are made of. If you think a social interaction can be productive when the words used are not equally pleasing to the participants, I don't know what to tell you.

I think you got those pix from here: http://www.rulen.com/kkk/

Who cares if the Klan's official flag is the stars and stripes? The 'battle flag' as you so worshipfully refer to it, is the banner of a defeated insurgency that almost destroyed this country. The dead are dead and we are all Americans. So bury that shameful rag.

Sad you think that way.I am proud to be a american, but also proud of my southern heritage.Mister That 5hit said they never fly the american flag by itself,so i provided him with the truth. And where does it matter where the pictures come from. You must be a yankee....

I am from South Carolina. I just live in the north. I eat shrimp and grits when I get the chance. I was weaned on country ham. My heritage is not a shameful, blood-smeared rag that causes direct offense to many who view it.

And don't start getting personal. I'm not talking about you. I'm not calling you names (which is partly what this thread is about) so don't you start.
