Hygrozyme

I'm kind of curious, is hygrozyme really necessary for clones? From what I've read it's a bunch of enzymes that break down all the dead organic matter, i.e. dead roots which can cause problems later in the system. I'm sure there's something i'm missing so if someone with good knowledge on hydrozyme knows please let me know!

I mean clones start with no roots....and your water shouldn't have any organic matter in it at the start....and your cloner should start out clean...right? So....yeah someone tell me what I'm missing.

That to me seems like a more ideal time if you have only a 15 minute interval timer! I'm no pro by far, but I swear every thread I've read about problems with roots not growing or turning brown has been a lack of oxygen, over-watering or over fertilizing too soon.

For myself, KISS has been a lifesaver! I made a DIY drip system and my problem was....overwatering! I had to force myself to go from 11 drips a day to just 5 and the plants loved it.

my plants and roots are great on 15/15, check my sour disel aero grow(lynk in signature). I would like to know could i leave the pump off longer without my roots drying out to compensate for a cooler res. The more your water pump comes on the warmer the pump gets, which in turn, heats up the water in the res.

It would be cool for 15/45 to work on aero, because if it does then my res temp will probably drop from about 70-73 to 65-68, just where it needs to be

does anyone know anyone who grows of 15-minute increment timers?

now that i think about it...... the longer i have the feeding off the longer the roots will grow. I'll have a longer overall root length because roots search for water and nutrients when they don't have direct access to it(as in soil). hmmmm....

Bingo! I swear everybody has the same fear, our babies drying out and turning to dust, but if you really think about it, 45 minutes without water when they are hanging over a bucket of water....isn't that bad. Especially if you have a small airstone in that reservoir!

Keep using the hygrozyme as per label directions. My res temp stays very high, 75 -81○, due to the 400w mh and small grow room. Therefore my roots looked like yours. I used h2o2 but had to keep using it every 2 days to keep them white and algae free, a constant battle.
But the hygrozyme kills off the algae\pythium and then eats it and produces a super fast growth spurt in new roots protruding from the net pot. Takes about 1 day to get a burst of new roots and about 3 days for it to eat away the old brown roots. I am using 8ml per gallon per label directions. So far I am liking the results.

yea, the longer they go without water the more they will grow in search of it, also as for the hygrozyme if you really need it, they dont say much on the website, only blog entries by customers who used it, its more like preventative maintainance, and by the way, the man at my local shop is a complete moron, i only took it cus its all he had, i was looking for rhizatonic i wasn't about to wait to get it online i was in need, but it is starting to work! i see some small new root growth and the fish bones are back, i been changing the rez daily and giving straight hygro and h2o2, i added the o2 yesterday cus i read it kills the bacteria, my plan of attack is to change the rez daily until its better, what are your thoughts guys?

so let me get this straight, i was gonna go back to soil, with the hygrozyme i can maintain a 75F temp? if your going good with that temp and hygrozyme, i think i will give it a shot, i am adamant about using my aero set up

I am pretty sure that the optimum timing for most aeroponics is 1 min on and 4 min off. I think the short watering period is the important because it doesnt suffocate them. You can order the timers from CAP for about $90. but you can buy 2 of the cheap timers and daisy chain them (plug one into the other) to get a shorter watering duration. Those pumps make more heat than you think too. Cutting the pump run time down will help the heat a few degrees. They make aquarium chillers that start at about $200 that you could invest in, but sounds like you are gonna have to get those temps down a little somehow.

in aeroponics your res temp can be higher (70-77), and also if you use hygrozyme your temp can be higher, but don't let it get ridiculously higher. best res temp however is 65-68

my problem is i am having temp issues now that my space temp is 78F, thats using a 400watter, i changed out my 1000watt cus of this rez , i have good ventilation and with the 1000w it gets up to 85-90, i dont mind the high temps as i encourage it i use co2, i think i am gonna scrap it the whole aero thing until i can afford to buy a water chiller, im so pissed cus the results are amazing and i put hard work into building my aero systems, thank god i didnt buy the aeroflo for 500$ with a pump it cost about 150$ for 18 sites and thats with expensive pvc

Have you tried painting the reservoir white? Or better yet, insulating it?

or you can buy a cooling rod that cost 250, it will lower res temp 10-15 degress, im thinkiong about getting on for the summer months

Keep using the hygro, to keep res cool freez 2liter pepsi bottles and put the in, you will have to change them every 8 hours, be careful not to let it get to cold. you will have to develop a schedule. and get a bigger res, more water stays cooler longer. And change res every week.
