Trust I do understand what you are saying...The popular vote should control the day, but if that was done why would the candidates even need to campaign in your smaller states ??? hell just get about 10 large populated states and you are done. Who the hell would just want Cali,New York, Texas, etc always picking our POTUS. The electoral at least keeps you courting all.

edit..and Bush just out right stole that election and Gore was to pussyfoot to fight for it..
Doesn't the bold text out right prove my point?

And it's my understanding that the campaigning procedure is to produce funds of all sorts, and to manipulate the populace so they ignore the fact that our voting system is outdated, and out of our hands. PLUS it helps political parties choose who they want to throw in the front of the rat race. Hillary talked some slack jaw nonsense and all of a sudden, Obama was at the front. I will say the popular vote helps determine how the political parties will use a head figure to control the masses. I find political parties unamerican though. That's probably just me.

We still hate Russian commi bastards, even though they have a more democratic voting system then us.

Also we need to stop focusing on our president, and focus more on the administration he carries with him, they're the ones that make decisions. Look at it as a company, you think the president of that company has a head of marketing for no reason? No one can be an expert in all fields, and unfortunately having a moral compass isn't the top selling factor for a president, I will say though I like where Obama's head is at. Remember all the scandal's about whether Clinton inhaled or not? Obama just says, yeah, I did it.

Considering African Americans vote 90-95% Democrat, what is your issue again?
That's his point, no? It's not because blacks want a hand out, it's because the system doesn't work for those who joined it late, black skin color just so happens to apply to those people, among others.

That is a steaming pile of bullshit.

Try to sell that to people like Hermain Cain, Colin Powell, Barak Obama, etc...

Such crap.

Yes, because the Democrats keep promising them free shit...
You do realize it was a Democratic President who did welfare reform, so not to sure about that free shit being the reason why they vote Dem... I think its more that the Republican do more to harm. Unless you are rich its somewhat foolish to vote Republican. Do tell what the last Republican did for this country that was so great.

I see your point, but I do think it could have been different had Gore fought the results...and Bush having the SCOTUS on his side pretty much helped...but Gore should have fought, so at least it could have been drawn to light. But to my point having to only go after the populated states would bring about unfairness to the states not so populated,so therefore we have the electoral vote

I just say fuck looking at state population, and political parties. Since we go through the effort of tracking every voter's vote, we should count it, and only it. That's what I believe in, because we're supposed to be a democratic country, and that's with the understanding that a lot of politically driven media is bull shit.

Unless I'm misunderstood, wasn't there recently an effort to shut down false media? I could be as I heard it in passing, but would like any explanation from anyone who knows what I'm thinking of.

Either way man, our vote doesn't have to count, and when it does, it's still a decision that's mostly decided by the 2 political parties. I would make a better president than anyone in the race right now.

Well if Gore won Florida, why should there be a fight for a victory that was already claimed? I see it as the democrat's got their turn, it was time for the republicans to get their turn.

No we are not.

We are a representative Republic. Look it up...
hmmmm, never heard this, but you're right. It explains a lot though. Thanks man.

"and to the republic for which it stands" didn't change my teachers telling me we where a democracy. Sort of like how my southern friends told me their text books stated that the south won the cival war. Ohh florida and mass. so different, yet so interchangeable.

As I stated in another thread , *I* am originally from Victoria Texas , the 14th Congressional District of Texas , and sure the bastard got re-elected but the FACT remains that you can walk down the street in Galveston or Victoria and ask folks if they voted for PaulaClownitics , you won't find any , not that will admit it.

He's yet another career politico pulling the wool over folks eyes inthe pursuit of further and more extensive political power.
