My tent is in the basement. its always cool 65-70 degrees, but with the lights on it averages about 78 degrees. My lights are good (I have a lot of different types of lights). My humidity is on the low side about 25-30%. In the summer the humidity get up about 55% and sometimes even higher. I've never had mold or anything like that(knock on wood). I just use beastie bloom and open seasame nutrients. I use promix organic plain ass soil with nothin in it. just the nutes i give it during flower. I do have a fan for ventilation too. Other then that i guess i dont know what else to say. Im guessing it has to be the genetics.

How much do you let run off when you flush bud? Im still learning...

Sounds like you've done some reading and finished some crops so genetics would be the first area I'd look at, then review your drying and curing methods as those can affect the quality even with the best genetics.

If everything is right, lets say except the humidity being too low... How much would that affect my grow? is the humidity enuff to take away potency? or would it cause slow growth or both?? Sorry about the newb questions bud.

I grow via RDWC (hydro, using a large qty of water), so flushing is a bit different than soil. I flush about 3 times during my grow. When I flush, I drain my system, fill it with fresh tap, drain, and fill again. That helps remove any salt buildup on the roots. The reason I only flush 3 times is because I use a large volume of water (50-60 gallons).

For flushing soil and coco, I would usually let a lot run off. Usually more than 20%. The purpose of flushing is to remove all the nutes. But I'm not sure if beneficial microbes get washed away when flushing too much.

When vegging you want it above 50%. If you're having trouble getting that, get a bowl or bucket of water, put it near your plants, and have a fan blowing on the surface. It'll bring up the rh. You can also get a towel to use as a wick, and have more surface area to create humidity. Check out my Cheapo Ultrasonic Fogger" link below to see how I did mine (on the last page). The diy fogger might help as well.

I've always flushed 3x the amount of whatever the pot size... so a 1 gallon would get flushed with 3 gallons of water. i figured its better to be safe then sorry. Is that too much i wonder?

Also, if your humidity is low, your plants will just perspire more, and you'll have to water them more. That's all. They'll still grow fine.

It happen to me before and the culprit was a over-fertilisation.

The buds looked good but tasted like hay and did have any effect.

Maybe you need to do a longer pre-harvest flush

When do you usually start the final flush?

imo RH levels shouldn't be affecting potency unless they're extremely low, growth rates yes. I like 50-55% myself in flowering. In veg I like 60-65%, it seems to work the best in my environment. On the other hand everything affects potency and flavour. I find when I get everything right, flip at the right time when they're ready, provide a consistent environment, harvest at the right time, dry it slow (7-10 days), cure it for a few weeks, it's generally dank. Takes a while to dial everything in, focus on one thing at a time so you can track the effects, learn about each step, eventually you put it all together doing what works for you.

I grew outdoor for years and thought indoor would be a breeze. Eventually I learned it can be but you have to do whatever you need to do and get the environment right, and consistent first. After that you work on tweaking each step, that's just process and practice and more or less the same whether indoor/outdoor.

I do my final flush a week before harvest, just to remove any slime and salt buildup.

When farmers grow, I doubt they flush their farm

2 weeks before harvest is when i like to give the final flush.

Im going to not flush one plant bucket this run to see whats up

I reckon the plant gets to a point it starts dying. Then slowly starts eating less. I reckon this is the time to start cutting back every feed. Until your at almost 0ppm by harvest.
You really get that nice autumn fade.

Some plants will handle it and some don't take to it very well.

As for flushing that's myth. If you are having to flush you are over doing the feeding and that will be to the detriment of the buzz.

Myth or not i still flush but i am testing one plant this run.

And i always subscribe to the less is more camp when it comes to nutes.
