My new stealth box

To calculate the heat given off by my lights I can estimate 3.413btu per watt, approximately 750BTUs the light will put off. Obviously I have more than plently CFM for the size of my box, so the CFM needs to be high enough to compensate to keep up with the rate in which the light produces heat.

That might have been more confusing, but anyway, I need more CFM, at 120cfm I will never get under 7degrees above ambient.

Well you can run it with the filter off to test exactly what the filter is doing to the flow. My greatest problems were when I was trying to incorporate the filter. definitely wasn't going to work with my 50 cfm fan. Thats how I ended up going with no filter at all and just putting the stinky air into the attic. An added bonus of venting into my attic is it also lowered the closet ambient overall and thus the cabinet a little more still. I had to be on top of my wife about not closing the door and thankfully I don't have to now... Cuz she kept closing the damn thing anyway lol

Yeah I could do that, I am just worried if I need to up the CFM on the fan, then I need a bigger carbon filter as my carbon filter cannot handle that much pressure. I don't really have room in my box for a larger carbon filter and I need the carbon filter as the box is in my closet.

it is rather hot in my box today. I think I found the source of the problem.

Inside- 84.8F
Outside ON TOP- 76F
Outside by passive intake- 84F

edit: living room- 73F

hmm. I need to direct the heat out better... it is interfering more with my intake than I had estimated... ideas? little 80mm fan or something?

edit edit:

Put a piece of cardboard down to further block the hot air directly travelling to the intake, put a fan on the floor of the closet blowing air towards the intake side.

Inside box- 80F
On Top- 76F
By Intake- 73
Living Room- 73

The air honestly doesn't even feel warm at all coming out of the exhaust. I wonder what the deal is..

Its going to stay like 6-10 degrees warmer than ur room, nothing u can really do about that brother! Lower ur home temp or place it next to an open window

yeah, I honestly believe the biggest issue is the location of the box, as it is in the closet and the closet remains open, the heat still builds up in the closet, especially where the intake is...

Honestly the problem is heat building up in the closet I believe. I would be happy with 80F, but that won't happen when the temperature around the intake is 77F

I just know the box will raise suspicious to maintenance when they see the extension on the back, it isn't suspicious if you look at it from the front...

there was no way for me to keep temps where i wanted them by keeping the Cab completely sealed and stealthy from back to front! Not saying its not possible but i didnt have the money to do it! From the front mine looks legit from the back? well yea u know what it is!
Its a beautiful piece of woodwork that u have, u should prob get it out of the closet!

I will post pictures after my clones are ready to flower.

I really just am terrified of maintenance finding the box honestly. Not for legal issues, but getting robbed it would be so simple for them, we all have our schedules.

Is it not in your house but like a shared common area with coworkers or something? If that's the case I can only see that ending badly!

Any ideas on how to cloak the box from my maintenance? There are no light leaks, no real noticeable sounds, but... the extension on the back will raise suspicion... it is the only thing I am worried about...

post up a picture of the extension chord if possible..would be more than happy to give some advice..take a picture of exactly what makes it suspicious

The back has been extended to fit the large t5 reflector. It isn't flush with the top, I didn't want to build a new top for the box

Here are some old pics while it was being built...
The color matches now, but to me it is obvious it isn't part of the original box.

Well if you got like shit on top of it just making it casual, I wouldnt think twice about a sheet laying on the back side of it, you know like rolled up.

Like you hang a towel around ur neck, just bunched up. Throw a sheet on the back of the cab like that, or your college blanket yeah. Put a fake plant next to the cab too mebe, like a 3 footer or some shit. Just gotta accessorize around it!
